2023 Ford Ranger Stormtrak Combines Sporty Style With More Intelligent Features

Ford is bridging the market gap between its Ranger Wildtrak and Ranger Raptor variants with the regional debut of the Ranger Stormtrak in ASEAN.

The Stormtrak moniker itself isn’t new. It was introduced in Europe at the latter part of the previous Ranger’s lifecycle over there. It was basically a sporty appearance package with added badging, decals, and seat embroidery (a twist to the Australian market Ranger Titanium).

For the Stormtrak’s appearance in the next-generation Ranger, it starts on the same note with the addition of standard body decals spanning the rear doors and cargo bed. However, Ford decided to go further (pardon the pun) by adding a unique front grille, auxiliary driving lamps embedded into the grille, larger alloy wheels and tires (255/55R20s), and the nifty Flexible Rack System. Inside, the Ranger Stormtrak has a revised interior color scheme. The leather seats also come embroidered with the words, “Stormtrak” which is echoed in the leather dash topper.

Under the hood, the Ranger Stormtrak remains unchanged, and for that, it shares the very same powertrain as the Ranger Wildtrak’s bi-turbo 2.0-liter 4-cylinder. This helps it make 210 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. The sole gearbox is a 10-speed automatic.

However, setting the Ranger Stormtrak apart from the Wildtrak, it does get the electronic shifter mechanism (e-shifter) as well as a full-time all-wheel drive system with Ford’s Terrain Management System. Furthermore, it also has Active Park Assist which should help owners slot the Ranger Stormtrak into tight parking spaces.

Ford has yet to reveal the pricing of the Ranger Stormtrak in its ASEAN debut market of Thailand, but it’s worth noting that the Wildtrak is already priced there at P 1,314,000 Baht, while the Ranger Raptor starts at around 1,719,000 Baht for the newly launched bi-turbo version. This gives Ford a 415,000 Baht spread to slot in the Ranger Stormtrak.
