Hongqi—the brand typically reserved for high-ranking Chinese government officials, dignitaries, and celebrities is centering the Philippines under its exclusive distributor, EVOxTerra.
Literally translating to “Red Flag,” Hongqi is a brand under the First Automobile Works or FAW Group. It was established in 1958 and has been regarded for its quality, luxury, and refinement. Today, Hongqi is exported to more than 20 countries across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
“We are extremely proud to bring this legendary car marque to the Philippines and let Filipinos finally experience for themselves the many reasons why Hongqi remains such an enduring international brand,” said Rashid Delgado, President of EVOxTerra.
Delgado added that the partnership with Hongqi is further proof of EVOxTerra’s commitment to promoting sustainability that brings forth progressive brands firmly entrenched in the future of mobility.
The group also distributes the Weltmeister brand in the country.
“We are very excited to finally enter the Philippine market and give Filipino car enthusiasts the Hongqi brand of utmost luxury, state-of-the-art design, and topnotch performance,” said FAW Hongqi Oversees General Manager, Mr. Wang Zuoquan.
“With the country well on its way to recovery from the pandemic, we think this is an excellent time to further expand Hongqi’s global footprint,” enthuses Robert Shaw, EVOxTerra Vice President and General Manager.
The formal partnership between the two companies comes just a few months after Hongqi’s first appearance in the Philippines via the 10th Philippine Electric Vehicle (EV) Summit held in October last year. The event showcased the Hongqi E-HS9 electric sport utility vehicle (top photo) which boasts European-inspired styling and very plush interiors.

The initial line of Hongqi vehicles that will be made available in the Philippines consists of four models, classified in two categories, New Energy Vehicles (NEV) and Internal Combustion Energy (ICE) model that are fuel-efficient, modern, and environment-friendly.
The E-HS9 EV SUV is priced at P 4.98 million.
Hongqi plans to open its first showroom at the posh Bonifacio Global City in Taguig soon.
