The 2024 MG 7 Is Quicker Than A Subaru WRX

The mid-sized sedan (aka executive sedan) segment is all but gone here in the Philippines, but if there’s one that could potentially bring it back to life (or at least spark a conversation), it’s this: the 2024 MG 7.

Slotting above the MG 6, the MG 7 slots in the same size bracket as the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry making it their true executive sedan challenger (the MG 6 has always been considered as an odd in-betweener). It also does have one trick up its sleeve and that’s down to its sedan-coupe lines. This means it takes on the whole Audi A7/Mercedes-Benz CLS vibe down to the frameless doors.

Under the hood, the MG 7 uses either a 1.5-liter or 2.0-liter engine. Both equipped with a turbocharger, the former makes 188 horsepower and 300 Nm, while the latter makes 261 horsepower and 405 Nm. Thanks to a wet-type dual clutch (7-speed on the 1.5 and 9-speed on the 2.0), top speed is rated at 210 km/h for the 1.5, and 230 km/h for the 2.0. The 2.0-liter also does the century sprint in just 5 seconds—faster than the Subaru WRX and almost as fast as a Kia Stinger GT.

The MG 7’s head-turning styling aside, it also comes with a futuristic-looking interior with dual screens. The driver gets a 10.23-inch display and for infotainment, there’s a 12.3-inch central screen. It’s also equipped with features such as a 14-speaker Bose sound system and a panoramic sunroof.

No word if MG will offer the MG 7 outside of China, but over there, it comes with a starting price of just RMB 119,800 (P 980,000). It tops out at RMB 169,800 (P 1,390,000).

  2. MG Philippines Sales are declining due to fierce market competition. With the arrival of other Chinese brands like JETOUR Cars and Great wall Haval vehicles and soon OMODA Cars they are under threat including Geely if they don't bring new head Turner vehicles. MG 7 will make difference as it looks truly Sports sedan wherever you look at it. Hope price is right when its arrive here. MG Philippines Distributor are used to bringing to old vehicles from china which they did with the two years Old MG GT . Bad management.

  3. I can see myself getting one if its priced cheap. It would be a fun to drive disposable car that I will enjoy for around 10 years then parts would be hard to get and will eventually be junked.

    1. Nah, i would bet it would not last 10 years, after the 5 year warranty it would be too costly to maintain and the resale value could be at 20% of purchased priced
