Remember that GR Supra GT4 racecar that Toyota launched roughly three years ago? Well, it’s reached an important milestone reaching a cumulative production run of 100 units.
Based on the road-going GR Supra, the GR Supra GT4 features both powertrain and suspension enhancements making it a true race car.
For example, its 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-6 now makes 430 horsepower and 650 Nm. It also gets a 7-speed sports automatic with paddle shifters. Handling all that power, the suspension gets KW dampers on both ends, a limited slip differential at the back, and a Brembo racing brake system with six pistons at the front and four pistons at the back. Pirelli 305/660R18 tires cap off the changes.
Inside, naturally it gets a full roll cage, safety harness, and an OMP racing seat that are all compliant with FIA standards.
Now, according to Toyota’s own count, these GR Supra GT4s have participated 625 times in 317 races worldwide garnering 79 class victories, 20 overall wins, and 207 podium finishes in GT4 championships in various countries, as well as the Super Taikyu Series in Japan.
Commemorating this milestone, Toyota and Gazzo Racing is releasing two special, limited-edition GR Supras.
The first is the ultra-limited GR Supra GT4 100 Edition. Based on the GR Supra GT4 EVO model, this model comes with a special color: Plasma Orange. It also gets a special hood reminiscent of the legendary AE80 TOM’s Supra that raced in the All Japan Touring Car Championship (now known as Super GT) and a badge with a serial number. Only three of this model will be offered worldwide.
For those who can’t get their hands on the GR Supra GT4 100 Edition, there’s also the Plasma Orange 100 Edition.
Based on the top-of-the-line GR Supra (the one equipped with a turbocharged 3.0-liter and an 8-speed automatic), it also dons the same striking orange hue. This road-going version is further differentiated from “regular” GR Supras with its black-painted brake calipers. Inside, it gets Alcantara seat upholstery too.
Toyota will just be making 100 of these Plasma Orange 100 Edition and all are destined for Japan. It’s such in short supply that customers there will have to enter a lottery just for a chance to buy one! The price, in case you need to ask is 7.6 million yen which is around 952,000 yen more than the GR Supra RZ it’s based off on.
I believe it can be rarer than a Lambo if equipped with manual transmission.
