This proactive step from the exclusive Subaru distributor in the Philippines is in connection with owners in the United States reporting problems with their cars either being unable to start or shutting down/stalling in traffic due to issues with the battery and electric system.

The lawsuit covers the 2021-2022 Subaru Outback, 2021-2024 Subaru Forester, 2021-2023 Subaru Legacy, 2021-2023 Subaru WRX, 2021-2022 Subaru Evoltis, 2019-2023 Subaru Crosstrek, and 2019-2023 Subaru Impreza.

According to plaintiffs, power consumption is inadequately managed by the electric system when the vehicle is off, with at least one electronic control module failing to put the vehicle into the correct low power sleep mode. This leads to parasitic battery drain that can happen at any time.

Motor Image says Pilipinas that that their technical team conducted an immediate audit of their local service records.

Their data indicates that there has been no unusual trend or uptick in battery-related concerns within Philippines. “The performance of the Subaru vehicles remains consistent with standard operating expectations,” says Motor Image Pilipinas in a statement.

Nonetheless, Motor Image Pilipinas is in communication with Subaru Corporation (Japan) to clarify the facts surrounding the allegations mentioned in the U.S. reports and to confirm whether the components cited have any relevance to the models distributed in the region.

“At this time, there is no evidence to suggest that the circumstances being discussed in the U.S. apply to vehicles locally,” they added.
