Suzuki Auto Philippines ushers in the era of full electric vehicles with the launch of the eVitara. Beating out other Japanese legacy brands—Mitsubishi, Honda, Mazda, and Subaru to the BEV punch, the small crossover does battle with the likes of the BYD Atto 3, Geely EX5, and its platform sibling, the Toyota Urban Cruiser.
The eVitara comes in a single GLX variant. Measuring in at 4,275 mm in length, 1,800 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height, it has an ample ground clearance of 180 mm and a turning radius of just 5.2 meters.
Like the Urban Cruiser, the eVitara comes with a single front-mounted 174 horsepower (128 kW), 193 Nm electric motor with power provided by a 61.1 kWh battery. This enables a 0 to 100 km/h time of 8.7 seconds and a top speed of 150 km/h.
With a promised 13.7 km/kWh figure, Suzuki claims a 475-kilometer WLTP range. The LFP battery can also be replenished using either a CCS for DC charging and Type 2 for AC charging.
The generous 2,700 mm wheelbase translates to ample room for occupants and cargo (up to 306 liters with the rear seats raised).
The eVitara GLX comes with 18-inch alloy wheels with 225/55R18 tires and ventilated discs all around. It also has a smart keyless entry system with push start, automatic climate control, a 12-color ambient interior lighting, a 10.1-inch infotainment system with a 7-speaker Infinity sound system, USB Type C ports, and a wireless charger.
It also gets the Suzuki Safety Support ADAS system. This gives the eVitara adaptive cruise control, front collision warning with automatic braking (with pedestrian and cyclist detection), blind spot indicators, and rear cross traffic alert with automatic braking. This is on top of 7 SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, stability control, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.
Prices start at P 2,020,000 with reservations now being accepted at all authorized Suzuki dealerships.
