It looks like Mazda Philippines is gearing up for the launch of the all-new, third-generation CX-5.
First launched globally in July 2025, the all-new CX-5 will come in two variants for the Philippine market, both of which are recognized as Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) by the Department of Energy. This is based on homologation papers filed by the carmaker with the agency. It joins the Mazda3 HEV and CX-30 HEV in getting the nod.
The 2027 CX-5 will come in a front wheel drive (FWD HEV) variant and an all-wheel drive (AWD HEV Premium Plus) variant for the local market. In both cases, the third-generation model carrying the codename “KM” sports a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine as standard. It’s listed as having 180 horsepower (133 kW) with 4.8 kW of that (6.52 horsepower) from an electric motor. It has a 0.22 kWh battery pack.
These match perfectly with the CX-5’s solitary powertrain available globally—the electrified 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G sporting 180 horsepower and 242 Nm of torque (178 horsepower and 237 Nm from the gas engine and 6.5 horsepower and 61 Nm from the electric motor).
Measuring in at 4,690 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,695 mm in height, the all-new CX-5 is 115 mm longer and 15 mm wider than the current model. Its wheelbase has also grown by 115 mm as well.
Overall, Mazda has evolved the CX-5’s look with a more chiseled appearance, incorporating the Mazda Signature Wing grille between the angular lighting elements. Inside, the all-new CX-5 maintains its minimalist design. The uncluttered, yet spacious cabin allows the driver to focus, while the passengers can stretch out and relax. The door openings are larger, for easier ingress and egress, while the seat comfort has been improved with increased legroom all throughout. Similarly, it has a larger cargo area: 50 mm longer and over 25 mm higher with a lower lift-in height that drops 18 mm from its predecessor.
Possible features for the CX-5 include a panoramic sunroof (a first for the model), a tan-colored Nappa leather interior, a Bose sound system, and a 15.6-inch touchscreen display using a new operating concept. This is on top of even more robust safety features which has helped it score 5-star ratings at both the ANCAP and Euro NCAP.
Are you excited for the all-new CX-5?

Steven Tan, CX6e when?
ReplyDeleteYeah! Nice increase in dimensions, Nappa leather and Bose system ššš
ReplyDeleteCheaped out mazda, not even a true hybrid. No more buttons, no more Mazda!
ReplyDeleteAny update if they will launch the CX-60 and CX-90 PHEV here?
ReplyDeleteTalo pa rin ng mga chinese cars when it comes to hybrid.
ReplyDeleteHardly anything exciting about it. For its price, a Mild Hybrid is such a runaway crime considering the advent the plug in hybrids.
ReplyDeleteGreat vehicle, top notvh quality, good loocks. But i expect it to continue languishing in the cellar in terms of sales.
Dumb decision from Mazda. Why be "normal" when everybody else is better at being "normal" than you?
ReplyDeleteThis isn't anything new though. Their history had always moved through this unique then boring phases... I guess we're at the boring phase right now.
If these cars breaches the 2M+ pricepoint, it wont fly.
ReplyDeleteConsidering the slew of new car models pumped heavily in droves on a monthly basis.. truth be told- its hard to keep up- specially the low pricepoints in offer.
Battle tested 2.5L engine and 6speed automatic transmission among the best of the best
ReplyDeleteDitch the mild hybrid and go full hybrid instead. and for all china fans out there, buyers of cx 5 doesn't even consider a china car as an alternative totally different market
ReplyDeleteSobrang taas naman ng tingin mo sa Mazda. They have some good models but thinking of it as a premium brand is a bit of a stretch.
DeleteHaha.. lotza cx5 owners ditched their cx5s for BYDs and Teslas... famous auto bloggers included..
DeleteThis. For its price, it should be a full hybrid already at the very least
DeleteThis could have been really exciting if the CX-5 Hybrid we get here will be the one with Mazda's all-new hybrid system based on Toyota tech and not some lame mild hybrid powertrain. The DOE's hybrid recognition is a sham.
ReplyDeleteSkyactiv Z full hybrid variant will be available globally from year 2027 onward
Deletehindi makatulog mga china fan boys without thinking of Japanese brands every single day. living rent free
ReplyDelete0.22Kw battery! Seriously?
