What sets Xpeng apart is their AI technology. They use it in their infotainment system to give you a more personalized experience the more you utilize it. Where it matters most is in the safety department. Unlike other cars that have a fixed set of instructions that the car follows, Xpeng’s cars will learn to adapt to your tendencies to certain situations in order to solve decision-making challenges in complex road situations. In their words, “replicate human driving logic.”

Let’s start with the sleek L03. This crossover was designed by JuanMa Lopez who had stints in famous brands like Lamborghini, Ferrari, and Audi among others. One of his most famous projects is the Ferrari LaFerrari.

This compact crossover measures 4,650 mm long, 1,920 mm wide, and 1,600 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. This puts it in the same arena as its fellow countrymen like the Geely EX5 and GAC Aion V among others. Only, it sits lower with only 144mm of ground clearance.

The L03 is designed to cut through air with its low 0.228 drag coefficient. But even without that number you can see it on the car itself. The front end has a sharp edge that seamlessly blends into the corners with the Starship headlights that have 400 LED beads. This continues to the side profile and becomes wide hips towards the rear end.

There’s also an active shutter grille at the front bumper while functional air ducts are also placed around the vehicle. The sides have flush door handles, a plethora of cameras and sensors around the car, and Full Width Star Ring taillights.

Most variants of the L03 are rear wheel drive EVs, and there is one Range Extended EV trim. The RWD Standard has 222 horsepower, while the RWD Long Range and Long Range Ultra have 249 horsepower, all having 280 Nm of torque. Their batteries also vary as the standard has 58.2 kWh while the Long Range trims have 71.1 kWh. This leads to WLTP ranges of 445 kilometers for the Standard and 520 kilometers for the Long Range and 480 kilometers for the Long Range Ultra.

At the entry side of things is the PowerX Long Range trim that uses a combustion engine as a generator. It has 242 horsepower, 280 Nm of torque, and an all-electric WLTP range of 215 kilometers with a combined range of 1,017 kilometers. They also boast of a sub-1 decibel noise when the engine is activated.

Charging is also a mix between the trims. Standard charging is capped at 6.6 kW. 5 to 100 percent in standard charging will take 10 hours for the Standard, 12.2 hours for the Long Range, and Long Range Ultra, while the PowerX REEV will do it in 6.5 hours.

Fast charging from 10 to 80 percent is fast at 20 minutes but only if you can hit their maximum charging power. The Standard can accommodate 193 kW, the Long Range and Long Range Ultra can do 236 kW, while the PowerX can juice up to 123 kW.

Minimalism is almost the norm with new Chinese cars these days. Xpeng puts a twist on it with their hidden vents for a more seamless layout. A huge 15.6-inch Ultra HD touchscreen still takes the center spot, but to its left is a 2-spoke steering wheel with fewer buttons. There’s a digital screen in front of the driver but there’s also a 26.8-inch Ultra-Wide Heads Up Display with Auto Light Sensor.

In the touchscreen is XOS 6 that has a natural dialogue interface and is multi-lingual. It also has Google Maps built in for easier navigation even without smartphone mirroring. The OS has a Rich App ecosystem, all scenario voice control, and seamless interaction design.

The front seats are available with Heating and Ventilation for the RWD Long Range Ultra trim. The driver gets a 14-point massage seat or one with 4D Pneumatic Lumbar Support for the regular variants.

The list of appointments in the L03 gets ridiculous as you read more. There’s Velvet Pillars and headliner, a 256-color wraparound Ambient Lighting System, Xpeng Xopera Surround Sound System that has up to 20 speakers, Panoramic Glass Roof with 99.9 percent UV protection and 97 percent visible light rejection. Dual Zone Climate Control and Rear Air Vents are also standard.

Families will appreciate the 37 storage spaces available. There’s also 40 expansion points in the guise of screw and magnetic ports, hooks, and pogo-pin ports. There’s 539 liters of space at the back that can be folded flat for a bump free space. It expands to 1,640 liters with the rear seats down. EV trims also get an additional 102 liters of space at the frunk. There’s also a 10-liter rear seat drawer.

The L03 also brings with it 5-star in 2024 C-NCAP rating, along with Euro NCAP and ANCAP for 2027. It has a total of 17 Advanced Driver Assist System features including some unique ones like Driver Incapacitation Assist, Blowout Stability Control, as well as the usual bits like Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, and Blind Spot Detection System among others. It also has a robust Flexible Parking Assist that can work even without markers on the ground.

The Xpeng L03 starts at P 1,548,000 for the EV Standard, followed by the REEV at P 1,598,000. The L03 Long Range starts at P 1,698,000 while the Long Range Ultra was the first revealed price at P 2,058,000. It will be available in Phantom Purple, Rock Gray, Midnight Black, Arctic White, and Silver Frost.

Warranty is also hefty with 2 years of free PMS, 5 years of free roadside assistance, 5-year vehicle warranty, 8-year warranty for the battery and electric motor. Customers will also get a 7 kW wall charger while the REEV will get a 3.5 kW portable charger.

Affluent families will certainly find the X9 enticing. Xpeng went all out with the appointments here in all areas of the vehicle. It has two variants with the only difference being in the second row. The X9 starts at P 3,858,000 while the Second Row Premium Seat Package is at P 4,058,000.

The X9 is big with dimensions at 5,316mm long, 1,988 mm wide, 1,785 mm tall, and a 3,160 mm wheelbase. Despite its monolithic Starship design language, the X9 still came out with a low drag of 0.236. That simply means this big MPV will still be efficient when running at higher speeds. This is aided by Aero Optimized Design that also has Active Grille Shutters on the front bumper.

Unlike in the L03, the X9 is available as an EV only with 320 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. Despite its size, it can still sprint from 0-100 km/h in 7.75 seconds and tops out at 200 km/h.

It also has 615 kilometers of WLTP range thanks to its 110 kWh battery. It can accommodate up to 11 kW of AC charging that brings the car from 5 to 100 percent in 11 hours only. Fast charging can be done up to 542 kW and can do 10 to 80 percent in 12 minutes. Efficiency is also estimated at 5 km/kWh. It also comes with a 6kW Vehicle-to-Load capability so you can power devices and small appliances directly from the car’s outlets.

The X9 is also gifted in its mechanical capabilities. It has Rear-Wheel Steering that turns the wheels up to 5 degrees. It allows this 5.3-meter car to have a turning circle of 5.4 meters only. The rear wheels also turn for easier lane changes. It’s also fitted with Dual-Chamber Air Suspension with Pre-Scanning Adjustment and 100 to 190mm height settings.

While the direction is the same with the L03, the cabin of the X9 is vastly different in aesthetic. It has the same layout but the vents here are not as sleek as the L03. The center console also sits higher that allows for two 50w wireless chargers and a fridge under the center armrest that has heating and cooling function.

Both front seats have massage, heating, and ventilation. The driver has a well-appointed 12-way Powered Seat with 4-way Lumbar Support, Memory, and Welcome function.

The standard second row is already robust on its own. It has a 14-way electric adjustment, 4-way lumbar support, heated leg rests, and zero gravity seats. This gives passengers heating, ventilation, memory, and 10-point massage. It also has 180mm of space so you can go to the third row.

The Premium Seat Package gets 18-way electric adjustment, 4-way headrests and powered leg rest, and 16-point massage in its zero-gravity seats. Only because of the size of these seats, there’s no more aisle in the middle.

Adjustments are also present on the third row. It has powered headrest and backrest adjustment, as well as one click folding function from the cargo area.

What makes the X9 unique across all segments is its ventilation system. It has a Five Zone Climate Control complemented by tiny holes on the second and third rows for better air circulation.

Screens are also aplenty. The X9 has a bigger 17.3-inch touchscreen, 21.4-inch rear entertainment screen, and a 21-inch heads-up display. Powering up devices is also a cinch thanks to 5 USB Type-C ports, and 2 12v sockets. Other amenities include a 27-speaker Xopera Sound System, Driver Headrest Speakers, Electric Soft Close Front Doors, Powered Sliding Doors, and One Click Access to Third Row.

The X9 promises the luggage of all occupants can be accommodated. The rear has 721 liters of space even with the third row up, and extends to 2,554 liters.

Safety is as hefty as the L03. The X9 has 9 Airbags as standard, along with 16 Advanced Driver Assist features. It also has 12 cameras, 3mm wave radars, and 12 sensors in the car. Parking is also easier with its Intelligent Parking features that include Enhanced Auto Parking Assist, Auto Exit Parking, Remote Parking, and Remote Vehicle Summon.

The Xpeng X9 will be available in Midnight Black, Matte Gray, Silver Frost, and Arctic White. Interior colors also range from Meteorite Black to Coffee. It also has 5 years of free PMS, 5 years of free roadside assistance, 5-year vehicle warranty, and 8-year warranty for the battery and electric motor, plus a 7 kw wall charger for the home.
