The 2021 Peugeot 3008 Packs a 300-Horsepower Engine

Peugeot is updating its 3008 compact SUV for 2021 allowing it to adopt the French carmaker’s newest design language. It also carries an updated suite of tech that’ll allow it to maintain its lead in Europe’s compact SUV segment.

For 2021, the 3008’s entire front clip has been changed. The hood now carries the model designation, while a new frameless grille makes for a modern appearance. LED headlights are standard and come with a “Fog Mode,” which reduces the headlights intensity whenever the rear fog lamp is activated. A fin-like pattern below the headlights allow the elements to connect visually, while black side scoops and a painted tread plate add some sportiness.

Inside, the 2021 Peugeot 3008 gets a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument panel with higher-definition graphics and better contrast. At the center is a 10-inch central touchscreen with piano-style toggle switches for commonly used commands such as vehicle settings, climate control, and infotainment. It also gets upgraded driver assist systems including the segment’s first night vision which guarantees detection of pedestrians and animals up to 250 meters ahead in complete darkness.

In terms of powertrain, the Peugeot 3008 comes with a wide array of powertrain options ranging from gasoline to diesel to plug-in hybrid.

For its gasoline-powered range, it uses either a 1.2-liter 3- or 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine. Power is 130 horsepower/230 Nm of torque for the 3-cylinder and 180 horsepower/250 Nm for the 4-cylinder. For its 1.5-liter diesel, it makes 130 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque. There are also two plug-in hybrid variants as well—the 2WD makes a combined 225 horsepower and 360 Nm of torque, while the 4WD does an even 300 horsepower and 520 Nm of torque.

The refreshed Peugeot 3008 starts retail sales in Europe by the end of the year. With the Philippines getting its units from a Malaysian joint-venture plant, it’ll probably take longer for the refreshed 3008 to arrive locally.
