The 2022 Kaicene CX70 Is The Most Affordable 7-Seater SUV In The Philippines (w/ Specs)

Kaicene, Changan’s commercial vehicle brand distributed by Berjaya Auto Asia is ready to get into the family MPV space with its first-ever automatic offering: the 2022 CX70.

The Kaicene CX70 features an unmistakably SUV-like design with its hexagonal detailing on the front grille, broad greenhouse, and standard 17-inch tires. Standing 190 mm off the ground, it has ample ground clearance while its 4,705 mm overall length and 1,775 mm width makes it half-a-size or a size-larger than other MPVs or SUVs in its price range.

Besides the 17-inch alloy wheels, the CX70 is packed in terms of exterior features. These include functions such as LED daytime running lights, front and rear fog lamps, and power folding side view mirrors with turn indicators.

Inside, the CX70 features generous room with ample seating across three rows. The driver’s seat offers 6-way manual adjustment (4-way for the front passenger), while the second row has a 60/40 split folding and sliding second row with adjustable recline. At the back is a 50/50 split-fold rear seat. Each passenger gets their own three-point seatbelt and adjustable headrest.

The simple dashboard design features a large 11-inch control screen with an 8-inch touchscreen serving as controls to the audio system and a touch-sensitive panel below it to control the air conditioning. It also comes loaded with features such as a tilt/telescopic steering wheel, passive keyless entry with a push-button engine starter, leatherette seats, and even a sunroof.

Powering the CX70 is a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine making 150 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque. This is mated to an Aisin 6-speed automatic driving the rear wheels.

In terms of safety, the CX70 comes not just with dual SRS airbags, but ABS with EBD as well as electronic stability control, reverse sensors with rear parking camera, and even a right-side curb camera.

The 2022 Kaicene CX70 is now available at all Auto Asia dealerships nationwide with a suggested retail price of P 879,000. On top of this, it has a P 40,000 introductory discount. It comes standard with a 3-year / 100,000-kilometer warranty.

    1. You're referring to the GVW? That's the heaviest it'll be with 7 passengers. It weighs 1,490 kg curb.

    2. My bad. But 1.5 tons for a subcompact mpv still heavy isnt it?

    3. They classify it as a sub-compact SUV, but in terms of size, it's actually pretty close to the Innova. But for comparison:

      Rush: 1,140 kg
      BR-V: 1,240 kg
      Xpander Cross: 1,275 kg

  5. Looks like a malnourished Ford Explorer. Richkid no more lol
