2022 WM W5 Officially Launched In The Philippines For P 2.548M (w/ Specs)

WM Motors Philippines is the newest brand to enter the local market, and they’re doing it with an all-electric SUV called the W5.

Welmeister (German for World Champion), or WM for short, is an EV brand based in Shanghai, China. It was founded by Freeman Shen, a former executive at Geely in 2015. The W5 is the brand’s newest model in its EX5 range. The 5-seater SUV features an all-LED lighting exterior lighting, backed up by a “Live Logo” that doubles as a battery charge indicator.

It features a permanent magnet synchronous motor making 217 horsepower (160 kW) and 315 Nm of torque. Its 52-kWh ternary lithium battery enables a maximum range of 400 kilometers.

Billed as an interactive car, the W5 will automatically unlock (and lock) itself for as long as the key is within proximity of the vehicle. Once inside, passengers are treated to a roomy interior with a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system (it doubles as the monitor for the 360-degree camera). It also boasts of a panoramic sunroof, dual zone climate control, a built-in dashcam, a N95 air filtration system, and even a smart UV light that kills bacteria and viruses in the car when it’s charging.

Speaking about charging, the W5 can be charged using a conventional 220-volt outlet (Level 1) or can be optioned with an exclusive WM home charger (Level 2) which WM Motor Philippine technicians can help install. It can also accommodate a DC fast charger using the GB/T standard.

The WM W5 is now available for orders with a suggested retail price of P 2,548,000. WM Motor Philippines will open a showroom located in Bonifacio Global City, while servicing will be done at the TDG In.Hub Building in West Bicutan, Taguig.

    1. Honestly, for that price, you're better off with Chery Tiggo 8 Pro HEV, or the halo non-BEV Tiggo 8 Pro with ADAS. (And i'm seeing plenty of them lately on the road.)

    1. So does the Nissan Leaf. I cannot bet on a larger BEV/HEV SUV. And also, the Dolphin is way, way, way more affordable.

    2. AND Leaf has all the complete suite of Nissan Intelligent Mobility (the ADAS.) The WM W5 depsite its price, can't even put one. Hard to justify especially for a neophyte brand established a few years ago. (All car manufacturers here will undergo baptism of fire, be it Korean, Japanese or Chinese, to prove that they're worth every hard-earned peso.)

    2. Dude, for kuchi888 to comment this is well priced, i bet he has more knowledge than you.. It tells me he knows how BEVs are manufactured and rightfully priced..EV batteries are much more expensive the ICEs.. You better start learning first about EV batteries and what its made of..

    3. Dears a lot of other established/reputable EV's brand than dis waste master. U bter start learning the advantage of buying from reputable brand which proved dear reliability thru decades of experience n not waste ur money for unknown n unproven brand.

  6. With this price of WM, I'll go for Toyota Corolla Cross GR-S HEV at 1.77M for now. Considering the price difference, savings or ROI from cost of fuel vs electricity and factors like maintenance support and parts supply for now, hybrid is more feasible in the country.

  7. What’s the annual maintenance cost?

  8. It will be a longshot for this EV brand here.. Mobile electrification isnt fully supported yet by our government.. However, this car may attract some specific buyers who will maximize the range of this EV as it may return their investment faster..

  9. I have worked in china for so many years. I will use chinese products like ovens or hahdheld radioes and the likes but not cars or even take a domestic that deploys chinese made aircraft. I have seen first hand car wheels on hiways detaching from careening vehicles. They still need to hone the reiability of their raw local materials. Safety when aboard vehicles can never be compromised or traded with impressive added amenities and/ or capabilities of their products.
