Toyota Just Gave The RAV4 Hybrid The Gazoo Racing Sport Treatment

Toyota has been giving its entire line-up the Gazoo Racing Sport or GR Sport treatment (barring maybe the Innova), so it just makes sense for them to bring this in: the 2023 RAV4 GR Sport.

Launched for Europe, the RAV4 GR Sport adds the G-mesh pattern prevalent in other Gazoo Racing products. Here though, aside from the grille, the same pattern is found on the fog lamp bezels as well. Moreover, it adds high-gloss black exterior accents found on the wheel arch trims, side moldings, and back door garnish. Capping off the changes are gloss black 19-inch alloy wheels with bright-machined pinstripe detailing. These are, Toyota says, made using a new, ultra-precise cutting technique.

Inside, the RAV4 GR Sport features suede-like upholstery and synthetic leather bolsters. These materials were chosen specifically because they’re free from animal products. Meanwhile, the headrests are embossed with the GR logo. Contrast stitching and Gazoo Racing emblems on the steering wheel and floor mats complete the transformation.

As with all 2023 RAV4s, the RAV4 GR Sport gets a 12.3-inch driver display and a new 10.5-inch high-definition infotainment system. More functionalities were added to the Toyota Safety Sense system as well.

The RAV4 GR Sport doesn’t get any changes to the engine. This means, it still uses a 2.5-liter hybrid. However, opting for the GR Sport automatically adds Toyota’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive or AWD-i system. All in all, this is good for 222 horsepower. Toyota did say that it benefits from a tweaked suspension for a “handling boost” and a “more engaging driving experience.”

This Gazoo Racing Sport tweaked RAV4 goes on sale in Europe by the last quarter of the year.
