Two Koreans And A German Are Vying For World's Best Car In 2023


The search for the 2023 World Car of the Year is almost coming to an end with the announcement of the Top Three finalists vying for the top prize.

A jury of 100 international automotive journalists from 32 countries selected the Top Three in the World finalists by secret ballot based on their evaluation of each eligible vehicle as part of their on-going professional work.

The Top Three in the World finalists for each category are:

  • Lucid Air
World Luxury Car
  • BMW 7 Series / i7
  • Genesis G90
  • Lucid Air
World Performance Car
  1. Kia EV6 GT
  2. Nissan Z
  3. Toyota GR Corolla
World Urban Car
  • Citroen C3
  • ORA Funky Cat / Haomao
  • Volkswagen Taigo/Nivus
World Car Design
  • Hyundai Ioniq 6
  • Land Rover Range Rover
  • Lucid Air
A panel consisting of six highly respected world design experts was asked to first review each candidate, and then establish a shortlist of recommendations for the jurors’ final vote. The design experts are in alphabetical order: Ian Callum (United Kingdom – Director of Design, CALLUM), Gert Hildebrand (Germany – Owner Hildebrand-Design), Patrick le Quément (France - Designer and President of the Strategy Committee - The Sustainable Design School), Tom Matano (USA – Academy of Art University, Former Head of Design – Mazda), Victor Nacif (USA - Chief Creative Officer, Brojure.com and Design instructor, NewSchool of Architecture and Design), and Shiro Nakamura (Japan - CEO, Shiro Nakamura Design Associates Inc.).

The winners will be announced at the New York International Auto Show in April.
