The Ford Territory Hybrid is the best-selling hybrid SUV in the Philippines, according to the latest data from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) covering sales from January to May 2026.
The Territory Hybrid sold a total of 2,226 units for the first five months of the year, or over 500 units more than the next best-selling hybrid vehicle in its category as per official CAMPI data (small utility vehicle).
Since its highly anticipated launch in August 2025, the Territory Hybrid has experienced steady demand. It crossed the 1,000-unit sales milestone in just over three months and concluded its launch year with an impressive 1,645 units sold. This unprecedented momentum has carried over into 2026, propelling the Territory Hybrid to the top of the market’s hybrid SUV vehicle sales charts.

As a nameplate, the Territory Hybrid is currently ranked third just beyond the Toyota Ativ and the Toyota Zenix.
The Territory Hybrid is a full hybrid SUV that combines a gasoline engine and electric motor for a smart balance of performance and efficiency. It delivers an impressive fuel economy of 19.6 km/L and range of up to 1,000 kilometers per tank. In a separate testing conducted by the Department of Energy for its 2025 Fuel Eco Run, the Territory Hybrid delivered a fuel economy rating of 23.71 km/L.

For the month of June, the Trend variant is available with P 40,000 cash savings or a P 79,000 all-in down payment, while the Territory Hybrid Titanium X comes with P 50,000 cash savings or P 89,000 all-in down payment.
Yeah unlike the previous 2 ICE versions the HEV territory has very good feedback from owners. Seeing lots of HEV territory in the roads lately it seems it’s gaining sales momentum due to the good feedbacks.

In reality it's not HEV vs. HEV, it's what's the better/best choice within the price change. In this case where the Territory HEV TOTL is about P1.56M after discounts, the Sealion 6, The Tiggo REV LE, the Chery X5 EMi TOTL, etc. are considerably better value for money as they are PHEVs which cost about 50% or less to run than almost all HEVs.
As someone wrote in this forum, it was a huge mistake for Ford Philippines to bring in a HEV rather than a PHEV.
You mean bastardized BEVs? HEVs sold more than PHEVs and BEVs combined, with Toyota leading the pack. Ford went with what older, conservative Filipino consumers want. Rather than compete with the Chinese brands and target yuppies with limited budgets, they went with the demographic with the most spending power.
DeleteAll those Chinese alternatives mention above were outsold by territory maybe except SL6 but Geely EX5 Emi looks promising and could even surpass SL6 later. HEV far more fuel efficient than PHEV if owners were doing a lot of long distance travel.

DeleteIn your post the name "territory' in the 2nd line did not have - HEV - after the territory name.
Assuming then that you are referring to the ICE Territory which was first sold in the Philippines in August 2020, it should have really outsold by now, the S6, X5 EM-i, Tiggo REV LE, etc. combined since it has been around all this time, as well as around 3 years before HEVs and PHEVs became
common.
To claim that the ICE Territory, since it was first sold in our local market in late 2020, has outsold the S6, EX5 EM-i, & Tiggo REV LE is not remarkable.
Now assuming you are instead referring to the Territory HEV, then there's a need to fact check the position that the Territory HEV may have outsold the S6, or even the EX5 EM-i & Tigoo REV LE combined. A lot of claims by car companies are intentionally made to mislead, or misinform people so that the less knowledgeable people would believe such claims which would in turn make them select their "better" product.
On Metro Manila streets, the S6 is very visible. There are few, and far between Territory HEV's visible.
On the claim that - "HEV far more fuel efficient than PHEV if owners were doing a lot of long distance travel." - such is again misleading as most car companies, even Toyota, clearly state that their 2027 RAV 4 AWD PHEV gets more mpg than their RAV 4 AWD HEV.
The Philippines own 2025 DOE Fuel Economy Run shows that not even one HEV, Toyota Cross HEV included, is in the Top 15 highest fuel economy vehicles. Ford likely didn't even participate since they already knew that their Territory HEV might have been ranked somewhere near the mid-30's, or even the 40's.
Whatever the source of the information that an HEV vehicle is more fuel efficient than a similar class PHEV vehicle is obviously erroneous. Note that PHEVs generally have 10 times the Kw battery capacity of HEVs which allows a much longer pure EV range thereby minimizing the Kw/Km cost of PHEV operation. Kwh being much less than cost of 1 liter of fuel.
The Territory HEV has only a 1.8Kw battery capacity while the S6, EX5 EM-i, and Tiggo REV LE all have at least an 18+Kw battery capacity.
Worse, the Territory HEV here uses an NCM battery which is unsafe (Thermal Runaway, fires and explosions due to mechanical damage/punctures), increased degradation due to over 80% SOC & our warm/hot climate. NMC batteries last only 1/3 to 1/2 the lifespan/cycles of LFP batteries used by the S6, EX5 EM-i, and Tiggo REV LE.
Note also that from 2020 to the present, the Territory and Territory HEV were & are made by Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC) of China.
Aside from the Ford Territory and its variants, are there any other JMC badged or rebadged Crossovers or sedans here in the Philippines?
None.

ReplyDeleteSeems like people love this made in China American brand. Cheaper cars are always easier to sell. Most buyers don't care much about quality, reliability, durability. What's important is they have a car to drive around.

ReplyDeleteNo easily available Home Charging, not really a problem as one can utilize a PHEV like a HEV. Also, one can charge in malls (sometimes for free) and others at charging stations where Kw costs are less than refueling costs using mid-level gasoline.
Note that one should also check the PMS costs of Ford Philippines which are amongst the highest in the industry.
Still want to buy a Chinese made Ford Territory HEV?
The Territory HEV is not a bad car, in reality it is a decent car but priced too high. Also, one can get a handful of better vehicles for the same money.
ReplyDeleteIf you really want a HEV then Check out the MG HS HEV at P1.4M less the cash discount. You'll save from P120K to P150K over the Territory HEV which you can use for 5+ years of PMS charges. I do not know about MG After-Sales service so you'll have to check that yourself.
For PHEVs you can try out the Sealion 6, Tiggo REV LE, EX5 EM-i, HS PHEV, and even the 2WD H7 PHEV.
Never buy a vehicle without a Test Drive, and make sure it has every feature you need and or want.
