Davao City Improves Disaster Response With These Mobile Kitchens

Hino Motors Philippines (HMP), the exclusive distributor of Hino trucks and buses in the Philippines, with the assistance of Hino Davao recently completed two mobile kitchens for the Davao City government.

The vehicles, which are part of the Davao City Social Services and Development Office’s (CSSDO) disaster response project called Kusina ng Bayan, will be used to provide hot meals such as soup and other ready-to-eat food during disasters and calamities.

The mobile kitchens will enable the CSSDO to respond to emergencies more quickly and provide meals to beneficiaries within 8 to 12 hours after a calamity strikes. Besides victims, in particular children, the elderly, and pregnant women, the beneficiaries include rescuers and evacuees from other areas or provinces struck by disasters.

The mobile kitchens all use the Hino WU600L chassis and are equipped with two heavy-duty cooking equipment, a water dispenser and a mini water reservoir. Each unit has a complete set of kitchen utensils and a foldable serving table at the side.

HMP President Mr. Hiroshi Aoki noted how helpful the mobile kitchens can be during times of disaster and calamity.

“Hino is honored to have been given the opportunity to contribute to this project. As we affirm our commitment to supporting the community, we will continue to leverage our ability to assemble and distribute quality trucks and buses designed to address the different needs of Filipinos, not only in terms of trucking and logistics but also during times of emergency,” Mr. Aoki said.

The two mobile kitchens will be used by the first and second districts of Davao City. The city government plans to procure another unit for the third district.

HMP has been engaged in the assembly and exclusive distribution of quality Hino trucks and buses in the Philippines for more than 40 years. Known for providing safe, durable and reliable trucks, HMP also offers customization to complement the various transport needs of businesses ranging from small and medium enterprises to big corporations.
