Geely PH Launches Sunroof-Equipped Okavango 7-Seater SUV for P 1.478M (w/ Specs)

You asked, Geely listened. Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP), the exclusive distributor of Geely vehicles in the Philippines has brought in a top-spec version of its 7-seater Okavango SUV for 2021. This time, it comes packed with even more features at a price that is still quite affordable.

Dubbed the Okavango Urban Plus, this new top-trim version is highlighted by its 60-inch panoramic sunroof with two modes: full open and ventilation. When open, the 1.06 square-meter tempered glass improves the feeling of visual space. When not in use, a three-layer shading material fully blocks the sun’s rays, while a rainfall sensor automatically closes it during inclement weather. For extra security, it also automatically closes when the car is locked.

Aside from the panoramic sunroof, the Okavango Urban Plus features the Geely Adaptive Drive Beam (ADB) Matrix LED headlights. Engineered by Valeo, the parent company of PIAA, it uses a total of 10 LEDs (6 for the low beams and 4 for the high beams). The high lumens output is complemented by its steering-linked adaptive function which “turns” the headlights during cornering.

Moreover, the ADB Matrix LED headlight system uses its front camera system to adopt four driving modes, automatically controlling each individual LED to maximize nighttime visibility, while minimizing glare to on-coming traffic.

Finally, the Okavango Urban Plus comes with a 12.3-inch full digital instrument panel. The 1920x720 display is high-resolution and is linked to the three-mode drive system.

Mechanically, the 2021 Okavango Urban Plus continues with its 1.5-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine mated to a 48-volt EMS mild-hybrid system. Total system outputs remain at 190 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 300 Nm of torque at 1,500 to 4,000 rpm. The sole transmission is a wet-type 7-speed dual clutch automatic.

“For SGAP, it will all be about moving forward and cautiously beefing up the game this year. We will further reinforce our product line up for this year starting with the introduction of the Okavango Urban Plus variant, and a few more updates and another model in the second half of the year,” SGAP Executive Vice President Yosuke Nishi.

The 2021 Okavango Urban Plus is priced at P1,478,000.00, a P 150,000 premium over the Okavango Urban.
