29.66 km/L In A Compact Crossover? Possible With The All-New Honda HR-V

Honda continues its hot streak of providing Filipino motorists with fuel-efficient vehicles with the all-new Civic and all-new HR-V. As a refresher, last year, the City sedan and hatchback were found to have superior fuel economy figures compared to their predecessors.

Following a fuel economy run conducted with the Automobile Association of the Philippines (AAP), the Civic RS Turbo achieved a fuel mileage of 21.43 kilometers per liter. Likewise, both variants of the all-new HR-V registered impressive fuel economy results. The V Turbo CVT did 24.34 kilometers per liter, while the S CVT recorded the highest fuel efficiency rating of 29.66 kilometers per liter.

These were from 129 kilometers of highway driving, with 60-80 km/h speed at 1,500-2,000 rpm, air-conditioning set at 24 degrees Celsius, and fan speed set at low.

The Civic and HR-V V Turbo highlight the 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC Turbo engines that provide an ideal balance of dynamic performance and fuel efficiency. In the Civic, this engine produces 178 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque, while the HR-V V Turbo packs 177 horsepower and 240 Nm. On the other hand, the non-turbo HR-V S variant produces 121 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque. Furthermore, all models’ engines shift with a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) that helps maximize fuel efficiency for a refined driving experience.

“With fluctuating fuel prices, we understand how important fuel efficiency is to vehicle owners. Through this eco run, we are not only demonstrating that Honda vehicles are fuel efficient in local conditions, we also want to encourage customers that they too can have excellent fuel mileage. It does help to have safe driving habits and to observe the periodic maintenance service, especially combined with advanced technology features like the Honda Sensing,” said Mr. Masahiko Nakamura, HCPI President.

Honda is all set on its global targets for environmental performance and safety. These are 100 percent electrification of automobiles by 2040 and carbon neutrality for products and corporate activities by 2050. In the area of safety, Honda aims for zero collision fatalities from the use of all its products by 2050. On the way there, driving smoothly and efficiently is a practical choice that vehicle owners can take today to improve road safety, save on fuel consumption, and reduce environmental impact.

    1. Yung e-power ng nissan ok sya sa city. Hi-way, not so much. Also, ang alam ko it can only go up to 140km.

  2. Any chance for the honda ph to launch hrv s turbo in the future? The v seems a bit pricey imo.

  3. So that means it is painstakingly done only by hypermiling and in controlled unrealistic conditions.

  5. False Information. SIla lng nagsasabi nyan pero yng mga HRV owners denied this. 8-9km/l lng sa city ang kaya. Sana kc makatotohanan yng testing nde yng controlled environment tapos kng pde lng huag mag engine at mag a/c, etc para maka achieve ng super taas na efficiency.

    1. Agree! Nevertheless, tipid pa rin naman tong hrv and civic kahit pa turbocharged. Di nga lang makatotohanan yung figures nila.

    2. Their test is even more efficient than their e:HEV

    3. It is possible. I was able to do that kind of fuel economy on a 104km drive. Dadaan ka nga lang sa expressway. Sa hi-way driving talaga mas efficient ang gas cars. kaya nga yung toyota hybrid purely gasoline lang on hi-way speeds eh.
