China's MG Pilot Rechristened As 2024 MG HS For Global Markets

Remember the MG Pilot launched in 2021? Well, it’s now been re-christened as the new MG HS and it’s now slowly making its way to global markets.

The 2024 MG HS takes on the new family face of the brand with the bolder grille (goodbye Stardust Grille, hello Digital Flame Grille), bi-function LED headlights, and bumper. At the back, designers opted for a nip and tuck with the revised dual exhaust outlets and LED taillights.

Those changes aside, the 2024 MG HS stays close to the current model. It’s worth remembering that in China, the turbocharged 1.5-liter has been upgraded to 173 horsepower and 275 Nm. However, for export models, those figures are down to 162 horsepower and 250 Nm thanks to a carryover powertrain from the current MG HS. Interestingly, for its European duty, the 2024 MG HS comes with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 7-speed wet-type dual clutch automatic.

Inside, the 2024 MG HS has a 10.1-inch infotainment screen with upgraded hardware for faster and smoother functionality. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard as well as dual climate control, ambient interior lighting, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and rear parking sensors with camera.

With other markets starting to receive the updated MG HS, it’ll just be a matter of time before the Philippines gets this too (either this, or the refreshed MG RX5). Remember, the MG HS only launched in the market early last year.
