For Yaris vs Veloz, the question lies in whether you need the extra space and the additional seats or not. Yaris Cross vs Raize though, Yaris Cross any day of the week. Plus, you should not be looking at a Veloz G if you are eyeing a Veloz. 40k lang ang pagitan ng Veloz G and V, why not go with the V with ADAS and it's just a 40k diff? In essence, if scenario A is where you are at, buy the Yaris Cross G. If you are in scenario B, depends on your needs.

Toyota misfired when they first launched the Corolla Cross with a super bare ICE-only model and the TOTL V Hybrid (GR-S is just a super expensive option pack so technically the V Hybrid is TOTL if you are not looking at a GR-S kit). TMP thought that they would be able to fend off Coolrays with the Corolla Cross G but how wrong they were. The Yaris Cross V is a much better buy vs that particular variant of Corolla Cross and does a much better job at being Toyota's Coolray fighter. If there were a non-hybrid V ICE-only version of the Corolla Cross (like the one in Malaysia), more people would buy it and would be an effective competitor to the HR-V S and a strong competitor in the 1.5 million and above premium B-segment crossover class (in other words, making the Corolla Cross more relevant with the arrival of the Yaris Cross). Discontinue the Corolla Cross G and replace it with a V Hybrid w/o the hybrid system. Let the Yaris Cross non-hybrids handle the Chinese crossovers.

Spoke with my sales agent at Toyota Pasig (the vehicle sales manager of the said dealership himself). Comparing the price difference between the Yaris Cross S HEV and the Corolla Cross GR-S HEV, it's huge price difference.

Corolla Cross GR-S HEV is not just a dressed up Corolla Cross variant, it's the only Corolla Cross variant that has a powered tail gate with hands free kick sensor, which the Yaris Cross V and S HEV variants are also equipped with. He confirmed everything I am posting here.

@JC The problem isn't with the Corolla Cross GR-S variant and the Yaris Cross Hybrid, it is with the Corolla Cross V Hybrid and the aforementioned Yaris. Yes, 1.8 million vs 1.595 million is a large enough gap. But 1.595 vs 1.680? That could be too small. Yaris Cross Hybrid basically costs 1.6 million so just 80k and a wee bit of change, you can have the Corolla Cross V which is based on the more sophisticated TNGA platform. I only see people opting for the Yaris Cross Hybrid vs that if there is a super long waitlist. TMP better be careful since both the Yaris Cross S and Corolla Cross V Hybrid can cannibalize each other.

For one, the V HEV variant of the Corolla Cross doesn't have a powered tail gate, which the Yaris Cross on its V and S HEV variants has and the Corolla Cross GR-S HEV variant also has. Yaris Cross S HEV has a panoramic sunroof and premium sound system. Then the Yaris Cross even if it's the DNGA version is equipped with electronic parking brake in all variants, which the PHDM Corolla Cross lacks.

@JC I can see where you are coming from. In some ways, the Yaris Cross S packs more features vs the Corolla Cross V Hybrid (the panoramic roof, power tailgate being prime examples). While people may pay the extra 80k for refinement, the Yaris Cross S is no slouch in value (may I also add that the Yaris comes with a 10.1 inch screen vs the 8 inch of the Corolla Cross). Looking at it, a Corolla Cross V that is ICE-only and a GR-S HEV line-up could work given the HR-V RS retails for 1.7 million though I maintain that the GR-S is overpriced for a B-segment crossover even if it's a premium-end one. This goes to show that TMP needs to work on the Corolla Cross range to reduce any clash with the Yaris Cross.

Every new car buyer looks for the panoramic sunroof it seems, especially those looking at Chinese car brands. That's why Toyota responded very well in equipping the Yaris Cross with it. It was something they missed out on the Innova Zenix.

Nobody really needs a panoramic roof, but if people want it let them have it, to each their own.

I am not the guy from above and I take it you are a gen z or millenial. No offense to your generation but that's such a dumb opinion. Not everyone has little money as you or your family. A lot of well-off families actually sell their cars before the warranties expire. It is also common to give cars to their high school kids or incoming college freshmen. Back then, when "bigger is better", it is commonly montero, sometimes pajero or expedition. Now it is coolray or the old territory.

I am not trying to start an argument, just stating things based on my experiences, knowledge and observations. Go to universities or colleges in metro and southern luzon, old professors drive sedans, young ones bike or commute, but lots of students drive territories coolrays and old suvs.

How special is Corolla Cross compared to our current Corolla Cross models?

Overseas Corolla Cross models do have sunroof (albeit, not the panoramic one) suspension (some models use multi-link instead of just torsion beams in PH version) engine tuning and AWD options.

@GR I think Freedom is referring to the fact that other markets have our Corolla Cross V Hybrid available without the hybrid, lowering the price (see Malaysia). Just hoping that TMP rejigs the Corolla Cross line-up with the bare-bones G being replaced by an ICE-only V version.

I believe it's possible Toyota Ph didn't bring in the V version because they can't price it competitively or maybe they could launch it soon.

Rattley interior? Never experienced it with my sister's Raize Turbo. High mileage na rin yun for an almost 1 yr old car.

Mostly comimg from the dash cupholders, the speakers, and the glovebox. I got my Raize Turbo on June 2022 and has 8k kms only now pero andaming rattles for a brand new car. Ang ginawa ko sa cupholders nilagyan ko ng electric tape sa bandang likod para hindi na magrattle, pero sa glovebox tinanggal ko na lahat ng laman marattle pa rin. The problem might be behind the dashboard. Sa speakers, binawasan ko nalang ang bass through the head unit kaya pangit na pakinggan pero atleast hindi na nagrrattle ang door panels. Hindi rin even ang mga panel gaps at finishing ng plastics, parang very rough ang pagkacut lalo na sa mga silver trimmings at sa trim behind the head unit. Ang Innova ko na 2012 plastic naman din interior nun pero solid ang build ng interior nun compared sa Raize. Kahit Vios eh mas solid ang interior. Sayang, satisfied naman ako sa other aspects ni Raize and maluwag siya, pero the interior build quality is a big disappointment for its PHP1M price. Sa mga nasakyan ko na Avnaza marattle din. I am hoping the Yaris Cross improves the interior build quality by a lot especially since it uses a lot of parts bin components from its DNGA siblings.

@anonymous 1:41 pm, dunno with your Raize Turbo, but my sister's Raize Turbo bought in Oct. 2022 has no rattling sounds even in those areas you mentioned. I know because I borrow it whenever my personal car is coding. Mataas na rin mileage at almost 11k kms.

It's quite a common complaint even in FB groups. But maybe only the first batches had terrible interior quality (mine had a conduction sticker starting with S6, maybe the Z batches were fixed) but it definitely put a sour first impression for a new car to have build quality like that. I learned the electric tape on the dash cupholder from the same other people who complained about the rattling from the Raize's interior.

Anyone else here also have similar experience? My Raize Turbo rattles are getting worse

The GAC Empow still has to prove itself to the market here in terms of reliability, durability and after sales, same with the other Chinese car brands that has entered the local market.

My only conclusion with Chinese cars based on what I read in the various FB groups of such cars, they're not fuel efficient in city driving. They consume fuel similar to V6 and V8 gas engines. That's also the observation of my bro in law with his Geely Coolray.
