Jaecoo PH Launches J5 SHS-H Hybrid Sub-Compact SUV For Just P 999K

After previewing it some weeks back, Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines officially launched its latest model, the 2026 Jaecoo J5 SHS-H at the Manila International Auto Show.

Designed under the “Origin of Nature” philosophy, the J5 SHS-H features the brand’s iconic waterfall front grille and “Mountain Road” light language. Underneath, it has a high-torsion body supported by Level 2+ ADAS. With a length of 4,380 mm, a width of 1,860 mm, and a height of 1,650 mm, it slots below the J6 and J7 in the Jaecoo range.

At its heart, the J5 SHS-S has a turbocharged 1.5-liter that generates 143 horsepower (105 kW) and 215 Nm on its own, but thanks to a 204 horsepower (150 kW), 310 Nm electric motor, it makes 244 horsepower and 295 Nm of torque. This enables a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration of 7.9 seconds and a high fuel efficiency rating of 23 km/L. With a 51-liter fuel tank and 1.83 kWh battery, it can go up to more than 1,000 kilometers before refueling.

Its 2,620 mm wheelbase results in an 82.8 percent space utilization rate meaning ample space for everyone aboard. Boasting of a double-layer soundproof glass, a 1.45-square meter panoramic sunroof, and anti-bacterial PU fabric seats, it’s made for the everyday drive.

The pricing of the Jaecoo J5 SHS-H starts at P 999,000 for the Comfort and tops out at P 1,109,000 for the Luxury.

Exclusively for reservations booked at MIAS, buyers get an additional P 10,000 discount, a premium accessory upgrade, 1-year free maintenance, and a 7-year or 200,000-kilometer full vehicle warranty, and an 8-year or 160,000-kilometer powertrain warranty.

During MIAS, Omoda and Jaecoo also introduced a unique affiliate program called the OJ Network. The program offers an incentive of P 10,000 for every Qualified Retail Sale attributed to an affiliate’s unique hashtag.

“At Omoda and Jaecoo, we don’t just build cars for the future; we build the future alongside our community,” stated Fritz Gerald De Ocampo, Marketing Manager of Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines. Participation in this community-driven ecosystem involves a streamlined, three-step process, beginning with digital registration via a government ID and verification selfie. Following registration, partners must attend a mandatory three-hour Brand and Product Training session to achieve official certification. The journey concludes with the activation of a unique Affiliate Hashtag—a personalized digital signature that ensures every referral and successful sale is officially recognized and rewarded.

  5. Honestly, I don't think that by being cheap always wins. Yes, those who can't afford the more expensive cars will buy the cheaper ones for shre; but with the huge price difference, there must be something different with regards to quality, craftsmanship, materials used, and many more. You really get what you pay for.

    1. What a contradicting statement. Owners who've had their cheap Chinese cars for a while now seem very happy with their purchase. It seems that for some brands you're really paying just for the brand name but at the same time also missing out on many things.

  6. Just to clarify with the fuel consumption. Earlier reports, it can get 18.9 km/liter. Now 23km/liter? which is which?

    1. Lots of dubious information in this article. ~347 HP is not what other info sources say for J5 HEV. More like ~220 HP.

    2. Plus, 23km/L x 51L is 1173 km. Not even close to their up to 980 km range.

    3. Looks like 18.9 to 19.21 if you are gonna base the distance 1173 at 51L that's 19.2km/L.

  7. This looks to be the most interesting car at MIAS 26. The pricing is eye-poppingly low, it makes the Sealion 6 look like a legacy brand car. I hope the reviews are favorable. 2026 is the year new brands need to be at their top form to show consumers they are serious contenders.
