2027 Subaru Getaway Is The Most Powerful Production Subaru Ever

With Subaru and Toyota closely collaborating on battery electric vehicles, it was only a matter of time for the brand to launch its very own version of the Highlander BEV. Well, it didn’t take long as the Subaru Getaway is now official as Subaru’s fourth EV.

However, instead of just cosmetic differences, there’s a big mechanical change that’s only available in the Getaway: power. Comparing the Highlander’s dual-motor variant to the Subaru, the latter gets a healthy 82 horsepower bump (420 horsepower from 338 horsepower). This should make for a low 5-second 0 to 100 km/h time. It also makes the Getaway the most powerful Subaru ever.

The Subaru Getaway also gets a 95.8-kWh lithium-ion battery giving it more than 482 kilometers of range between charges. It can also be topped up with charging speeds of up to 150 kW (10 to 80 percent charge in 30 minutes).

A 338-horsepower version with a 77-kWh battery pack will also be made available.

Compared to the Ascent/Evoltis, the Getaway is longer and wider equating to more leg- and headroom. Cargo space, regardless with the seats up or down, is bigger too.

Space aside, the Getaway packs family-friendly features such as a three-zone climate control with dedicated third-row vents, USB Type C chargers on every row, a 14-inch center touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual wireless chargers, and of course, Subaru EyeSight.

Meanwhile, the driver will surely enjoy the ample ground clearance (212 mm), the X-Mode Dual-Mode System, and confident handling thanks to either 19 or 20-inch wheels.

In terms of design, the Getaway features an illuminated six-star logo upfront, LED headlamps with dedicated washers, DRLs that also double as charging status indicators, a ladder-type roof rail, and an illuminated “SUBARU” logo on the rear tailgate.

  1. Subaru gets away with a lot through the Getaway with their partnership with Toyota. This confirms that their bond will just be stronger then ever.
