BYD Cars PH Launches 530-Horsepower Sealion 7 AWD Performance (w/ Specs)

After the Seal EV, BYD Cars Philippines is adding yet another performance-oriented all-electric vehicle, and this time, it’s an SUV. The BYD Sealion 7 brings a new form, exhilarating power, and worry-free range to the compact SUV segment (watch our walkaround).

Previewed at the Manila International Auto Show, the Sealion 7 is designed under the direction of Wolfgang Egger (of Alfa Romeo, Audi, and Lamborghini fame). It features a fastback-like silhouette and a focus on clean volume and form. It has standard LED headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels, hidden door handles, a panoramic glass roof, and a hands-free power tailgate with kick sensor.

For the local market, it comes in a choice of four exterior colors: Shark Gray, Cosmos Black, Aurora White, and Deep Sea Blue.

Underneath, the Sealion 7 packs dual electric motors producing a combined 530 horsepower and 690 Nm of torque. This allows this five-seater SUV to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds—putting it in the realm of supercars.

Putting the precision of electric motors to good use, the Sealion 7 can allocate power to the wheels that need it the most. The Intelligent Torque Adaption Control System allocates drive torque to minimize and even eliminate skidding, while Frequency Selective Dampers adjust the ride in real time.

Performance notwithstanding, the Sealion 7 is also practical. Using the BYD LFP blade battery, it offers 542 kilometers on a single charge. What’s more, it can be juiced up either using AC charging (11 kW) or DC fast charging (150 kW) using a CCS Type 2 charging port. And like other BYD models, it also comes with a Vehicle-to-Load function.

Inspired by the dynamic flow and speed of sailboat racing, the Sealion 7’s interior embodies a sense of movement. In front of the driver is a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster and a heads-up display. At the center is a 15.6-inch rotating infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with a 12 speaker Dynaudio system.

The premium touch continues with dual climate control with rear AC cents, wireless device charger, dynamic ambient lighting, and power front seats with 8-way adjustment for the driver and 6-way adjustment for the front passenger. Both seats have built-in ventilation, with the driver having memory presets and even a built-in leg rest.

Befitting its role as BYD’s EV flagship its performance is balanced by a long list of standard safety features. Apart from a complete set of active and passive safety features, it comes with BYD’s DiPilot ADAS. On top of that, it has front and rear parking sensors and a 360-degree camera.

The Sealion 7 AWD Performance is priced at P 2,588,000.

  1. I consider this car as a "sprinter". Why? Its because it goes fast, off to a great start... but it doesn't last long. 🤣

    3. Which makes it perfect as a daily driver. Everyday driving usually requires fast and sudden accelerations for overtaking. No one should be driving on public roads maintaining speeds that should only be reserved for quick overtakes.

    1. Lol. I’ll take Tesla efficiency any day over this inefficient blob. The SL7 AWD has a bigger battery than the MY AWD and yet it still gets less range than the MY. A classic case of design over function.

    2. U get high-tech and good software from Tesla

Buy a BYD, CCP gets ur data and leaves with you shit product

    3. So much Tesla fanboying lol. As if Elon Musk is a paragon of good intentions compared to the CCP 😄
Maybe look at the history of Tesla diving into and sharing private recordings without permission 😬

    4. Since when did comparing efficiency become fanboying? Tesla makes efficient vehicles, that’s just an established matter of fact. The BYD SL7 falls short in efficiency compared to the TMY is another matter of fact. It’s on you if your BYD fanboy ego was hurt by that. Just go enjoy your BYD Destroyer. Ironic how a BYD fanboy calls someone else a fanboy.
