Still reeling in from strong demand for its Forester Hybrid, Motor Image Pilipinas, the exclusive distributor of Subaru in the country has just confirmed the arrival of its second electrified offering: the Crosstrek e-Boxer Hybrid.
Announced via a social media teaser (watch the teaser below), it’ll make its Philippine debut at the upcoming Philippine International Motor Show this June 4 to 7, 2026.
Confirmed by Motor Image, the Crosstrek e-Boxer Hybrid won’t be using the “Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicle” system of the all-new Forester. Instead, it’ll be using an electrified 2.0-liter said to offer real-world fuel efficiency improvements.
In terms of technology, the e-Boxer predates the SHEV system. In fact, it debuted way back in 2018 in the Crosstrek’s predecessor, the Subaru XV.
The FB20 alone makes 156 horsepower and 196 Nm of torque, but the electric motor on its own generates an additional 17 horsepower (12.3 kW) and 65 Nm. It can also run purely in EV mode during take off and light-load driving thanks to a 0.57 kWh battery helping it get the DOE’s nod as a hybrid electric vehicle.
Like the combustion engine Crosstrek, the Crosstrek e-Boxer Hybrid also features a Active Torque Split AWD system, Subaru Intelligent Drive, and Dual Function X-Mode.
Some of the key features revealed by Subaru include 18-inch alloy wheels, a 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat, an 11.6-inch full HD touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless charger.
Naturally, it also receives Subaru’s advanced EyeSight ADAS system.
The Crosstrek e-Boxer Hybrid comes in two new colors: Citron Yellow and Sand Dune Pearl. Official pricing and full specs will be revealed at PIMS.

No RTV silicone gasket issue here?
ReplyDeleteSeems like Subaru has been gone in the country for awhile now…
ReplyDeletetruth their casa in c5 is nilalangaw
Deletenot very good reviews in other international market. the hybrid system doesnt contribute significantly to fuel savings. the AWD system ruins everything the hybrid technology offers.
ReplyDeleteThis is nice hybrid system would save fuel 10- 12%, & even small drops if combined will lead to considerable savings & it is also smooth for stop and go traffic in ph since its electric motor can run wheels to save fuel. plus it can recapture wasted energy from regenerative braking, it is exempted from no coding no need to buy estra vehicle for mobility.
ReplyDeleteMild hybrid uly?
ReplyDeleteOfficially, yes. BUT, since the electric motor can propel this Crosstrek under certain circumstances, it still gets the DOE nod as a hybrid.
DeleteI just dont get mild hybrids. The benefits doesn’t outweigh the cost and complexity
