Grab Introduces Grab Taxi Service to Subic

Grab, the Philippines’ and Southeast Asia’s leading ride-hailing platform, brings the GrabTaxi service to the Subic Bay Freeport Zone (SBFZ). As the everyday app, Grab continues to expand its operations to reach more Filipinos as it now serves 12 cities in the Philippines.

With the intent of helping Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) develop the area as a smart city, Grab has equipped 120 taxi drivers with the Grab application, providing locals and tourists with a better way of getting around the free port zone.

“As the everyday app, we at Grab believe in the smart cities of tomorrow, and introducing our technology to Subic brings it closer to its vision of building its very own smart city. With GrabTaxi now in place, locals and tourists will now have a more convenient, safer, and faster way of commuting,” Grab Philippines Country Head Brian Cu said.

SBMA Chairman and Administrator Wilma T. Eisma said the GrabTaxi service will greatly help the employees of the hundreds and thousands of employees of over 1,600 business locators in the free port.

“Having Grab as a partner to drive Subic to become a smart city is truly a blessing. We share the same goal of providing convenience to Filipinos. GrabTaxi can make a difference in the lives of locals and tourists in Subic,” she said.

Currently, Grab has on-boarded about 120 driver partners into the system. These drivers are now ready to accept bookings, after undergoing training through the Grab Academy to ensure that Grab standards on safety and service are met.

Cu added that with the Grab app now available in Subic, Grab is now in a larger position to enable more micro-entrepreneurs to be successful.

“Our vision as an everyday super app is to be present where we are needed, all while providing the best services to our customers. Our commitment to expand our services in more Philippine cities remain so that more and more Filipinos can enjoy riding with Grab,” Cu said.

Aside from Subic, Grab is also available in 11 cities in the Philippines, namely: Manila, Cebu, Davao, Pampanga, Cagayan de Oro, Bacolod, Baguio, Bataan, Naga, Iloilo, and Tacloban.
