Toyota Motor Philippines Launches All-New 2019 Camry (w/ 17 Photos, Specs)

After some teasing, Toyota Motor Philippines formally launches the much-anticipated full model change of its flagship midsize sedan, the all-new 2019 Toyota Camry. Underpinned by Toyota’s New Global Architecture (TNGA), the 2019 Camry exudes extraordinary from all vantage points imaginable: an overhauled exterior geared towards “Sensual-Smart Confidence”, an ergonomic interior which prioritizes both driver and passenger comfort, and an unmatched array of performance and safety features.

TNGA is built upon two pillars—Core Strength and Emphasized Personality—both of which are present in the design and engineering of the all-new Camry. The new Toyota approach in making ever-better cars manifests in the eighth-generation model by enhancing its agility, stability, and visibility. A lower center of gravity combined with a new suspension system results in a sharper response and handling. The strengthened ring structures around its body frame makes the vehicle more stable and sturdier, especially at high speeds. By reducing the thickness of its instrument panels and lowering the hood, cowl, and beltline, the forward field of view is greatly increased to make driving an extrasensory pleasure.

On the outside, the 2019 Camry’s new styling reflects the design team’s philosophy of harmonizing a bold and distinctive look that separates the model from its competition in the midsize sedan segment. Chief Designer Akira Kubota calls this “Sensual-Smart Confidence”—an approach which seamlessly melds the athletic accents in the sheet metal with a sleek and modern body shape—creating an emotional design.

The two-piece front grille and the new character lines set the tone for the all-new Camry’s exterior. Its low and wide stance conveys a more relaxed feel, accentuated further by a sweeping cabin and 18-inch alloy wheels. The LED headlamps and Daytime Running Lights are positioned perfectly on the prow, equally matched by LED tail lights, dual exhaust pipes, and clearance sonar at the rear.

Sculpted with the finest degree of craftsmanship, the 2019 Camry’s roomy interior is aligned with the “Sensual-Smart Confidence” design concept, leading to a luxurious cabin nothing short of class. All seats are padded and clad in smooth genuine leather, and provide ample legroom for everyone. Both driver and passenger comfort are taken into consideration, as the model features a 3-zone automatic climate control, with speed sensing power door locks, and 1-touch power windows.

The 2019 Camry comes with a Smart Entry and a Push Start System that has key-linked memory: automatically adjusting the driver’s seat and outside mirrors according to set preference. Inside the cockpit, the driver cruises with ease through an engaging dashboard that has a 7-inch Multi-Information Display and Heads-Up Display technology. At the back, chauffeured executives can relax in premium luxury as the rear seats come equipped with butterfly-type headrests, power recline, and a Capacitive Touch Panel that controls the air-conditioning and sunshade.

As predicted, the 2019 Camry remains with a carryover engine. The 2.5-liter 4-cylinder 2AR-FE Dual VVT-i engine making 184 horsepower and 231 Nm of torque. The V6 has been discontinued. Mated to this is a 6-speed automatic that now comes with a Drive Mode Select, letting you choose between Sport and Eco modes. It also assists the driver in higher speeds by adding the Highly Responsive Upshift Control and Blipping Downshift Control, both activated in S mode to allow for faster shifting without reducing engine braking and lowering shock.

The all-new Camry also scored a definitive 5-star ASEAN NCAP rating, making it one of the safest passenger cars in the market. Aside from its 7 strategically-placed airbags, the eighth-generation model uses an Electronic Parking Brake. All variants are equipped with Hill Start Assist, Vehicle Stability Control, and Anti-Lock Brake System.

The 2019 Toyota Camry arrives at all authorized dealerships by December 12, 2018 in three colors: Platinum White Pearl, Attitude Black Mica, and Thermalyte. In addition, four more colors are available by special order: Red Mica, Phantom Brown Metallic, Graphite Metallic, and Burning Black Crystal Shine Glass Flake. The price of the all-new Camry starts at P 1,806,000 for the 2.5 G; P 1,821,000 for the 2.5 G Platinum White Pearl; P 1,992,000 for the 2.5 V; and P 2,007,000 for the 2.5 V Platinum White Pearl.

  4. My 2008 Camry had rear controls for the stereo. Then they discontinued that feature staring with my 2013 model and from the pictures posted it looks like this new one also doesn't have rear controls for the stereo. Why did they remove that feature?

  5. Why don’t we get the Dynamic Force 2.5L engine and 8-speed AT used in the US?
