Chery Auto PH Sales Jump 216 Percent in Q1 2021

Chery Auto Philippines saw its sales rocket 216 percent in the first quarter of 2021 compared to the same period last year. The automaker attributes this to increased public awareness of its products.

This Q1 2021 performance is even better than the 162 percent sales increase experienced by Chery in July last year when the country first shifted from ECQ to the less strict MECQ.

Chery did not divulge full Q1 2021 results, but in July 2020, they sold 45 units rising to 118 units in July. Meanwhile, in January 2021, they sold 152 units.

According to the Chinese brand, showroom traffic was driven mainly by the all-new Tiggo 7 Pro which was unveiled last January 27. This is then followed by their most affordable model, the Tiggo 2, and the 7-seater Tiggo 8.

Chery Auto Philippines says that they are also keeping their prices “safeguard bond free” at least until the end of April.

Their dealership network has also been growing despite the logistical challenges of the pandemic. To date, its network has blossomed into 18 full-service dealerships nationwide.

“We are proud to offer the exact models that Filipino car buyers are looking for, especially in these times," said Chery Auto Philippines president Rommel Sytin. "People need reliable, safe yet affordable mobility and we have the right mix of value-packed models with luxury, comfort, and safety features to suit any requirement or budget," he added.
