Foton Retains Its Position As One Of The Philippines's Best-Selling Car Brands

Bucking the multiple challenges brought about by the global pandemic, and the switching of business and marketing strategies that followed, Foton Motor Philippines, Inc. (FMPI) remained one of the country’s Top 10 best-selling automotive brands last year. It also retained its position as the country’s best-selling Chinese brand.

For the entire twelve months of 2020, Foton Philippines registered a total of 2,456 units sold. For reference, its closest Chinese rival was Geely which sold 2,158 units during the same period.

Foton’s best-selling vehicle for 2020 was the compact, yet versatile Gratour series which comprised 15.88 percent of its total sales. While second quarter sales were affected by the effects of the community quarantine, they started to reclaim market sales in the third quarter as demand for commercial vehicles rose to address the mobility requirement for relief and public service operations of different regions.

In Foton’s Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) sales, the TransVan claimed the top spot with 19.5 percent. It was also the brand’s best-selling van for 2020 as well.

With a substantial percentage of the industry’s total sales focused on commercial trucks, the Tornado Series contributed to 44.22 percent of Foton’s overall truck sales. It helped them garner the title for the third best-selling light-duty truck in the country for the third consecutive year.

“We are honored to be among the Top 10 best-selling automotive brands in the country. We are indebted to our loyal customers and partners that supported us since the beginning. Rest assured that we will always stay committed to bring the best mobility quality that will Empower Your Business,” says Foton Motor Philippines President Rommel Sytin.

As the company marks its 15th year in the Philippine automotive industry, it continues to pursue first-rate services by innovating and adapting more convenient features by recently launching its Mobile App, a user-friendly website, and a digital showroom.
