Spied! 2022 Mitsubishi Xpander Set For A Makeover

It looks like small MPV stalwart Mitsubishi isn’t taking the news of the all-new Honda BR-V and Toyota Avanza sitting down. Snapped in Indonesia where it’s being filmed for a commercial shoot, the Xpander is also getting a refresh next year.

This isn’t the first time the Xpander’s gotten a facelift. After its launch in 2018, Mitsubishi’s small MPV gained some minor tweaks last year putting it closer, at least stylistically, to the Xpander Cross. For 2022 though, the changes are much more noticeable.

The photos, courtesy of AutoNetMagz, may be blurry, but it clearly shows the facelifted Xpander’s new front-end. It takes on styling reminiscent of the all-new Outlander. The Dynamic Shield grille now sports added curves along with slimmer T-shaped headlights and LED daytime running lights. Over to the side, the 2022 Xpander gains blade-like alloy wheels that seem to be an inch from the current model, while at the back, the new bumper gets the same T-shaped cutout as the front.

No interior photos were snapped by the spy photographer, but it’s likely to be a level up from the current Xpander in terms of features and overall execution bringing features such as 360-degree camera and an improved infotainment system to the small MPV.

With the Indonesia Auto Show aka Gaikindo or GIIAS 2021 just around the corner (it starts November 11), this seems like an opportune time for Mitsubishi to show off their new MPV.
