Someone Leaked The 2022 Toyota Avanza Specs, And Here It Is

Man, what is it with Toyota and all these 2022 Avanza leaks (and this one too)? A day before its official global unveil, scans of the brochure and specifications have made their way online. It does spoil the launch somewhat, but it does give us the clearest picture of what to expect with their all-new entry-level MPV.

You can check out the blurry scans below, but we’ll also be enumerating what we’ve seen instead.

There are a total of 4 variants for the Avanza and three for the Veloz. As seen in previous leaks, the all-new Avanza features a bolder new look that’s far removed from the current model. Standard features on the solitary 1.3-liter MT variant (1.3 E) include LED taillights and 15-inch alloy wheels. Moving up to the 1.5-liter variant aka the 1.5 G, adds LED head lights, power retractable side mirrors, and two-tone 16-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the 2022 Avanza features a big jump in terms of tech and execution. Standard across the range is what Toyota calls “Long Sofa Mode.” This seating allows either the first-row seats to fold back to meet the second-row, or the second-row seats to fold forward creating a foot rest for those in the third-row.

Features (depending on variant) include a tilt/telescopic steering column, a 4.2-inch TFT multi-information display, digital-type AC, and a 7 or 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity.

In terms of safety, dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, and seatbelt minder for all three rows are standard across the range, while the highest-speced 1.5-liter variant gets 6 airbags and Toyota Safety Sense or TSS. TSS gives Toyota’s entry-level MPV lane departure assist, pedal misoperation control, front departure alert, pre-collision system, rear cross traffic alert, and blind spot monitoring

Differentiating the top-of-the-line Veloz from the Avanza, it gets a distinctive front-end with LED headlights and sequential turn signal lights. At the back, the Veloz gets a full backdoor-type LED combination lamp and 17-inch alloy wheels. Automatic retractable side mirrors with foot lamps complete the changes.

Inside, the Veloz offers even more unique cues with leather/fabric seats, a soft-padded door arm rest, a 7-inch digital-type instrument cluster, electronic parking brake with auto hold, automatic climate control, and a rear seat entertainment system. Opting for the 1.5 Q adds a 360-degree camera and advanced smartphone connectivity (likely Apple CarPlay and Android Auto). In addition, the full suite of airbags and TSS are only available on the highest trim—the 1.5 Q CVT TSS.

Riding on a brand-new platform, the Avanza is powered by either a 1.3-liter or 1.5-liter engine that’s, surprisingly, carried over from the outgoing version. The 1.3-liter 1NR-VE generates 98 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 121 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm, while the 1.5-liter 2NR-VE makes 106 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 137 Nm of torque at 4,200 rpm. The engines, equipped with DOHC and Dual VVT-i, are mated to either a 5-speed manual or a CVT with sequential mode.

  2. if Toyota PH will also offer the 1.5G CVT TSS here at a reasonable price (probably below PHP 1.3M) it would definitely be the safest MPV. and i would believe it would sell a lot

  3. Hope the India spec 2022 Toyota Avanza will have a diesel option on offer
