2023 Honda BR-V Scores 5-Star Safety Rating

Another Honda rated by the ASEAN New Car Assessment Program or ASEAN NCAP managed a five-star rating using the 2021-2025 testing protocol. The all-new (and upcoming) BR-V 7-seater SUV managed 77.02 out of 100, enough for a five-star rating.

For the ASEAN NCAP test, Honda tested the BR-V Prestige variant for the Indonesian market. And while Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) has yet to confirm the final specifications of the BR-V, the safety agency has confirmed that this specification is, at least, applicable to the Philippine market.

The BR-V tested by the ASEAN NCAP has dual SRS airbags as well as side impact airbags as standard (again, despite the presence of curtain airbags in the lead photo). Curtain airbags are either standard or optional depending on variant.

Meanwhile, when it comes to safety assist technology, ABS with EBD and electronic stability control are standard, while advanced driver assist technologies in the form of Honda SENSING and LaneWatch, Honda’s blind spot camera, is standard or optional (the model showcased in PIMS had both).

The BR-V scored 33.72 out of 40 in Adult Occupancy Protection, 17.46 out of 20 in Child Occupancy Protection, 15.71 in Safety Assist Technology, and 10.13 out of 20 in Motorcycle Safety.

Like the HR-V, the BR-V had adequate (driver and front occupant chest) or good (everywhere else) in a frontal impact, while in a side impact, it had good overall protection.

The all-new Honda BR-V is expected to be launched before the end of the year in the Philippines.
