Ayala Land Rolls Out EV Chargers At Strategic Offices, Malls, Hotels

Leveraging the strength of the Ayala Corporation conglomerate, Ayala Land rolled out its first batch of electric vehicle (EV) chargers at key locations in Luzon starting today.

Part of their commitment to become Net Zero by 2050, Ayala Land (ALI) is making available both AC and DC charging stations at key malls, estates, offices, and hotels across cities in Luzon. These locations are:
  • Offices
    • Baguio Technohub
    • Tower 2 Ayala Triangle Gardens
    • Solaris One
    • Laguna Technohub
  • Estates
    • One Ayala Avenue Carousel
    • Nuvali
    • Vertis North
    • Vermosa
    • Circuit Makati
  • Malls
    • Greenbelt
    • Glorietta
    • Alabang Town Center
    • Trinoma
  • Hotels
    • Seda Bonifacio Global City
The network is composed of both 22-kilowatt AC chargers and 60-kilowatt DC fast chargers (currently located at One Ayala Avenue Carousel). Open to all EV users regardless of brand (as long as they have the compatible CCS Type 2 port), they will allow EV users to fully charge their vehicles in as fast as two hours.

So far, Ayala Land has tapped not just its subsidiary, AC Motors (Kia), but SMC Asia Car Distributor (BMW) and PGA Cars (Audi and Porsche) as well. Kia, meanwhile, has confirmed that the EV6 will be launched locally by the first quarter of 2023.

Currently, use of these chargers is free, but in the near future, BPI and GCash will work on cashless payment options.

The initiative, Ayala Land says, is in line with the conglomerate’s thrust and aligned with the global and even local directive to shift to EVs.

“The rollout of these EV charging stations is one important step towards our goal of carbon neutrality. With this, we hope to create an ecosystem which encourages a sustainable lifestyle within the communities we create,” ALI president and CEO Bobby Dy said.

“We are expanding this program to more key locations, energizing sustainable transport faster, and further in the years to come.”

Ayala Land has already committed to neutralizing scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions at their malls, offices, hotels, and resorts by 2022—a goal they have achieved ahead of schedule.

The chargers installed at Ayala properties is built by Ayala’s electronics manufacturing arm: Integrated Micro-Electronics, Inc. (IMI) together with its partners TGOOD LINCHR, GREENSTRuM, and Global Electric Transport Philippines.

  1. We need more charging stations to convince motorists to shift to EVs.

  2. In Sydney, 500+ fast (175kW) and ultrafast chargers (350kW) are lined up to be installed by the government with a budget of $39.4M in the next 24 months. Since ultrafast charging an EV (350kW) still takes about 30 minutes (only for premium cars), there will be a minimum of 4 chargers, with some stations containing up to 15 bays. This is the right way to deploy EVs.

22kW (3phase) chargers can be setup at home. A single phase can delivery up to 7.4kW, but will take around 11 hours to charge a car with an 80kW battery from 0-100%.

    1. Well...it's a start for the Philippine market...there will be more fast DC chargers that'll be installed within the next few months. Mostly though, they're AC chargers.

  3. We tried the charging station twice at GB3 and in both instances it failed, it couldn't charge. We sent a message through the APP that comes with their charging station and no response.
