Toyota Motor PH Adds More Affordable Corolla Altis Hybrid Variants

Toyota Motor Philippines expands the hybrid variants of its Corolla Altis compact sedan with the introduction of the Corolla Altis 1.8 E HEV and the Corolla Altis 1.8 G HEV.

Previously, if you wanted a hybrid Corolla sedan, you had to shell out P 1,746,000 for the top-of-the-line Corolla Altis GR-S HEV. Though it comes with some nice bits like a recalibrated power steering system and shock absorbers, not everyone wants an overtly sporty compact sedan. Some people want something more basic and, yes, more affordable.

That’s where the Corolla Altis 1.8 E HEV and Corolla Altis 1.8 G HEV come in. The 1.8 E HEV is priced at P 1,489,000, while the 1.8 G HEV is priced at P 1,602,000.

These two new Corolla Altis variants use the very same powerplant used by the Corolla Altis 1.8 GR-S HEV. This means having the long-serving 1.8-liter 2ZR-FXE Atkinson cycle that makes 98 horsepower and 142 Nm and an electric motor that outputs 72 horsepower and 163 Nm. It has an 0.83-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. All in all, it’s enough for 122 horsepower.

Apart from the hybrid powertrain, the new Corolla Altis HEV variants closely mirror their now-discontinued non-electrified counterparts save for a push-button start stop system and a 9-inch infotainment system—an inch larger than the non-hybrid 1.8 E (P 1,213,000).

The Altis 1.8 E HEV is as basic as they come with 16-inch alloys, halogen headlights, no front fog lamps, smoked LED taillights, and leather seats with manual adjustment. It does, however, come with a single zone climate control, a full set of airbags, ABS with EBD, stability control, and Toyota Safety Sense (ADAS).

The Altis 1.8 G HEV, on the other hand, brings back the “bridge” model that slots between the E and GR-S grades. It receives 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights, leather seats with power adjustment for the driver, and a 6-speaker sound system.

Both new variants come in four colors: Cement Gray Metallic, Attitude Black Mica, and Super White II (1.8 E HEV), and Platinum White (1.8 G HEV).

  5. Geely.... mmm POGO... West Philippine Sea etc etc... Do yourself and the country a favour and get the Toyota. In 5 years time you will still own a reliable car with high resale value and a extensive dealer network to maintain it. Think long term!!

  7. A proper Toyota, though sana essentially the ICE E-trim Altis spec, only HEV. Could strip away yung ADAS baka bumaba pa price to 1.2-1.3M.

Sa asking price kasi, mag Corolla Cross ka nalang. Or one of the many the Chinese offerings.
