UPDATED: BMW Philippines Launches the 2018 X2 (w/ 13 Photos, Brochure)

UPDATE: We included the brochure below (5/2).

Crossovers are a dime a dozen these days and for most brands, this is the direction to take. It’s no different for BMW. The German carmaker has officially launched the much-anticipated new member of its X family, the first-ever 2018 BMW X2.

For the local market, BMW, under its new distributor SMC Asia Car Distributors will initially carry the X2 xDrive 20d M Sport X.

Dubbed as “a true rebel”, the latest addition to the brand’s compact Sport Activity Coupe (SAC) features the brand’s iconic signature design but with a unique twist. This starts with the inverted kidney grille which is now narrower at the top and wider at the bottom giving the X2 a wider stance. Next is the unique C-pillar which has a BMW roundel built-in. This plays homage to BMW’s classic coupes and highlights the sporty DNA of the X2.

As an M Sport model, it has subtle gray trimming around the vehicle for a sportier edge.

In terms of functionality, the X2 has the newest version of BMW’s automated Parking Assist technology. It also features the keyless Comfort Access System. And for those who seek adventure, it has 470 liters of cargo space.

Under the hood, the first-ever X2 M Sport X is powered by BMW’s signature 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder diesel engine putting out 190 horsepower through an 8-speed automatic transmission. And like its X1 platform mate, xDrive all-wheel drive is standard.

The 2018 BMW xDrive 20d M Sport X is available in three colors: Galvanic Gold, Misano Blue, and Sunset Orange with an introductory price of P 4,390,000.

    4. With a budget of say 4-4.5M, and with a preference for a Euroean premium car/SUV, I'd say get a slightly used Porsche Macan nalang. Handles better than most SUV's out there, doesn't drink too much fuel, and size is just right for daily driving.

Or if on the more practical side, you can probably find a used BMW X5 for that budget already.

  3. At that price yet it still sport a fabric seat? Dafuq with that overpriced piece of sh*t.

Honestly, this is where Mazda comes in. Their rise from being under Ford to a Premium carmaker steals consumers from the luxury market over buying those overpriced PHDM Bimmers. Might as well buy a CX5 diesel over this X2, then use the amount you saved for premium upgrades like weather tech floor mats, ceramic coating, Huper Optik tints, etc etc...

But on hindsight, you have to deal with several of its shortcomings if you choose a Mazda.

    1. Distinguished gentlemen call that seat material "alcantara" leather. And if you consider weather tech or ceramic coating as premium upgrade then yor're really a cheap person. If ever you can afford one, please dont own one.

    2. Burnn! Btw, this is not the mazda fanboy. He's actually the Honda fanboy that plans to buy his civic rs from last year. But I agree that they're overpriced.

    3. Hey BMW fanboy, im aware that it's a Alcantara "leather". Alcantara leather has this fire retardant characteristic, one of the reason why it's being used even by other luxury carmakers most especially those produce Supercars. If you're using your brain, this X2 ain't a Supercar thus negating the need for a fire retardant Alcantara "leather" seat. It looks awful irregardless if installed in supercars like Lamborghini's or not, although it befits its purpose since it's used in a Lamborghini.

Weather tech floor mats is one of the most if not the most expensive floor mat available here in the PHI so far, it deserves to be called a Premium upgrade. There's a difference between Premium and Luxury, mind you.

    4. LOL. Sabi mo fabric seat. Pahiya ka. Di ka marunong. Nag google ka na lang kung ano ang Alcantara. Fail.

    5. Alcantara "leathers" has this fabric seat look. It doesn't look good and will never look good kahit nakalagay pa yan sa Lamborghini or Porsche or Bimmers. No need to google.

    8. Mr. Anonymous na nagsabi ng fabric seats, mukhang kailangan mo na umalis sa thread na to. Balikan mo na lang kami sa susunod na article. Spare your dignity.

    9. Nah, im still here. I should've said fabric seat "look" instead of plainly fabric seat

      Anon 1:58am

ORIGINAL Weathertecs deep dish floor mats can set you back at around 15k for 2 rows then 20k for 3 rows and another 5k for the cargo tray. REGULAR Grabs cars and taxi cabs won't bother spending that amount not unless they're fakes ones or those of with universal cuts. Mas nakakatawa ka.

    10. Weathertecs? May be yours is fake. Please check whats on your Tamaraw FX again. It should read WEATHERTECH. FYI.. I got mine at Greenhills Outdoor club for only 9500 pesos, thats for the entire 3 rows. For 2 rows 6,750 only.. You can check their FB account if you want. Hahaha...

    11. If it's being sold by Outdoors Club, you're likely referring to the Thai-made Max Liner.

WeatherTech is distributed by Hart International. Their showroom is on Santolan Road. Same one where they have Xpel and Mother's.

And yes, the cost of WeatherTech is way more expensive than Max Liner.

    13. Hey Mr. Anonymous 10:30pm, can you please do a complete carwash of my 3.5 V6 midsize sedan? Make sure to clean it thoroughly including my Weathertech deep dish floormats, it's quite expensive unlike your cheap copy cat. Hahahahaha.

    14. Alcantara is not leather.

It's faux suede made out of Polyester and Polyurethane plastic. Either way you're not missing out on the feel of automotive leather. Most car leathers, e.g. BMW's Dakota Leather, are made out of split leather with an embossed coating of Polyurethane plastic. If they are not made of plastic entirely as in MB-Tex(Benz), NuLuxe(Lexus), or Sensatec(BMW) vinyl.
