Nissan Navara OFF-ROADER AT32 is One Tough Pickup (w/ 7 Photos)

Nissan is taking its “tough and smart” Navara to the next level with the Navara OFF-ROADER AT32. Sold in European markets, the Navara OFF-ROADER AT32 is a factory-modified version of Nissan’s venerable pickup truck complete with a warranty.

Marking the first time that a Navara’s been developed with a partner brand (in this case, Icelandic company Artic Trucks), the Navara Navara OFF-ROADER AT32 includes a brand-new suspension (ride height is up 20 millimeters), full protection of key underbody components, and larger off-road tires. The only optional extras? A snorkel and a front differential locker.

Engineered by Artic Trucks, which specializes in building 4WD vehicles to take on the world’s harshest terrains, the “AT” in Navara OFF-ROADER AT32 stands for “Arctic Trucks” while “32” represents the diameter of each off-road tire in inches (rim sizes are 17’s).

Using the 2016 International Pickup Award winner, the suspension’s been raised to give it 243 millimeters of ground clearance compared to 223 millimeters on the standard model. Maximum approach angle has been increased to 35 degrees (up from 30.4 degrees) while breakover angle is now 24 degrees from 22.2 degrees.

Other obvious enhancements include the wheel arch extensions while those hidden from view are underbody protection plates covering the engine, transmission, propeller, and fuel tank.

For customers seeking the ultimate in off-road ability, a snorkel and front differential lock are available as optional extras.

The snorkel, attached to the A-pillar, boosts the Navara OFF-ROADER AT32’s water wading depth to 800 millimeters (up 200 millimeters from the standard model). It also improves air intake and protects the engine from heavy dust and water ingress. The front differential locker, working in tandem with the standard Navara’s rear differential locker, will provide the best possible traction on every type of surface.
