After showing off its exterior design and glimpses of its interior too, Honda is starting to drop technical tidbits about the all-new, sixth-generation Prelude.
First up, it’ll be powered by the very same two-motor e:HEV hybrid system found in the Civic Hybrid. While that sounds like a downer to diehard petrol heads out there, it must be noted that at 200 horsepower and 314 Nm of torque combined it should deliver some solid performance. And while it’ll use a CVT, Honda’s giving it a much-needed redesign thanks to their new Honda S+ Shift which further advances their Linear Shift Control system.
Second, the 2026 Prelude is getting some of the FL5 Civic Type R’s suspension bits. While positioned as a grand tourer first, Honda understands that they must throw in some sportiness into the mix too. This meant going for wide front and rear tracks, and Brembo front brakes. It will also utilize the dual-axis front suspension—the first time Honda will do so outside of a non-Type R model. This virtually eliminates torque steer while also increases its high-speed cornering performance.
The all-new 2026 Prelude is expected to make its global debut sometime this year—perhaps in time for the Japan Mobility Show in October; after all, the Prelude Concept made its worldwide appearance then. Keep your eyes glued for more details pertaining to the all-new Prelude soon.

ReplyDeleteIf the Honda CR-Z hybrid was offered with a manual transmission, why not the new Prelude?
ReplyDeletedue to the new powertrain daw, it's design cannot accommodate a manual transmission. Honda's old Hybrid system which the CR-Z uses, called the IMA, can be paired with manual transmission.
