Toyota Motor PH, PGH To Advance Healthcare With HEAL Program

The Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF), Toyota Motor Philippines Foundation (TMP Foundation), and the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to bring accessible, convenient healthcare for all. Under the Healthcare Mobility for All or HEAL Program, mobility serves as the bridge to better care for all.

HEAL focuses on enhancing mobility and accessibility of healthcare services for both patients and healthcare workers in the Philippines. The program runs from July 2025 to December 2026.

Every day, countless Filipinos make efforts to access the healthcare they need. Data from the PGH finds that patients from underserved areas often travel long hours and navigate multiple modes of transport for a medical consultation. Moreover, healthcare staff, especially those on early or late shifts, show the same dedication, often overcoming challenging commutes to serve patients. HEAL was created to make long, difficult journeys to healthcare more manageable, consistent, and less disruptive for patients and staff.

During the implementation of HEAL, two mobility solutions are being introduced.

The first is a Mobile Clinic designed to deliver essential healthcare services directly to patients, particularly in those areas where access to PGH is arduous.

To start, two units of the Toyota Coaster minibus will be converted into mobile clinics, equipped with essential diagnostic services, to potentially serve patients in Cavite. The clinics will be integrated into the existing PGH IT systems that enable online consultation bookings and will potentially be supported by a new queueing system to ensure efficient operations. This solution aims to optimize the time to simple diagnosis and treatment for patients in these areas.

Second, a Shuttle Service will offer safe, reliable, and efficient transport to PGH healthcare workers, especially those commuting during shifts with limited or inconvenient transport options.

Three Tamaraw UV-based shuttles will be deployed to support the daily commute of PGH healthcare professionals for the late night and early morning shifts. This solution offers a more coordinated and comfortable way to travel to and from the hospital, reducing reliance on multiple public transportation transfers and minimizing safety concerns, and commuting expenses and through pooling.

The program is powered by strong collaboration with Toyota Mobility Solutions Philippines (TMSPH) as the mobility partner, with support from Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation (TMP) as engagement partner, and the Deloitte Future of Mobility Solution Centre as the development and implementation partner.

Susumu Matsuda, Deputy Chairman of the Board, Toyota Mobility Foundation emphasized the program’s core principle: “Mobility equals opportunity—this is what HEAL symbolizes. With strong partnership with Toyota Motor Philippines Foundation and Philippine General Hospital, we are excited to connect people to the care they need, when and where they need it, we are supporting lives, communities, and a more inclusive future in Philippines.”

This commitment is affirmed by the Chairman of Toyota Motor Philippines Foundation, Mr. Alfred Ty: “As this year marks our 35th anniversary, TMP Foundation renews its commitment to uplift the quality of life of many Filipinos. We believe that our 'Mobility plus Health' advocacy can empower and change lives. We have seen how efficient transportation can positively contribute to patient care and public health professionals. That is why we are proud to be part of this program—to make basic healthcare accessible for all.”
