Hariphil Asia Resources, Inc., the exclusive distributor of Volvo Cars in the Philippines adds a new entry-level variant to the EX30 range. Read our review of the EX30 Ultra RWD Extended Range.
Joining the EX30 Ultra RWD Extended Range (P 2,690,000) is the new EX30 Core RWD Pure Electric that’s priced at P 2,350,000.
Both variants are powered by a rear-mounted electric motor delivering 272 horsepower and 343 Nm of torque that drive the rear wheels. This offers a brisk 0 to 100 km/h time of 5.3 seconds (5.7 seconds for the Core RWD Pure Electric) and a top speed of 180 km/h.
The difference between these two variants, mainly, has to do with the battery pack. While the EX30 Ultra RWD Extended Range offers up to 476 kilometers of range (city/highway combined) thanks to its 69 kWh (65 kWh usable) lithium-ion battery, the Core RWD Pure Electric makes do with 339 kilometers due to its smaller 51 kWh (49 kWh usable) battery. Furthermore, the RWD Extended Range offers higher DC peaking charging (153 kW versus 134 kW).
Regardless of variant, the 2024 World Urban Car of the Year carries a 5-star Euro NCAP safety rating. Standard features include Pilot Assist, which intelligently manages speed and distance while providing steering assistance. This system works in conjunction with Driver Attention Monitoring, analyzing driving behavior to detect fatigue or reduced focus and issuing timely alerts. The Collision Avoidance System provides audio and visual warnings, brake pulse alerts, and can even initiate automatic braking or steering to help mitigate potential impacts.
Beyond its protective capabilities, the EX30 excels in active safety features designed to prevent incidents before they occur. The Intersection Auto Brake is engineered to prevent or lessen accidents at intersections by automatically stopping the car if another vehicle unexpectedly crosses the driver’s path. A crucial Door Opening Alert uses visual and audio cues to warn against opening the door when a cyclist passes by, significantly reducing “dooring” incidents.
Inside, the EX30 offers a sophisticated and serene experience. Its nature-inspired interior themes are crafted with renewable materials, highlighted by ambient lighting with five Scandinavian-inspired modes. The immersive Harman Kardon audio system elevates the journey, while an advanced climate system ensures a fresh and comfortable cabin with air quality monitoring and remote pre-cleaning. And because practicality is key, the versatile storage includes a 61-liter underfloor compartment—318 liters with rear seats up and a generous 904 liters when folded. Five ergonomic seats with discreet ISOFIX attachments ensure safety and comfort for all passengers.
“The Volvo EX30 is a clear manifestation of our dedication to innovation, safety, and sustainability,” said Maria Fe Perez-Agudo, Vice Chairman, President, and CEO of Hariphil Asia Resources, Inc. “Its impressive array of awards and top-tier safety rating underscore our commitment to providing a vehicle that not only excites but also protects and respects our planet. The EX30 truly represents the future of mobility, available today.”

Is Volvo still the safest automotive brand now that it's owned by Geely?
ReplyDeleteCars in general have only gotten safer. Being owned by Geely wouldn't really do anything to worsen their products (it's been 15 years so idk how long of a time you want/need as assurance). Anyway you look at it, Volvo's main market is Europe thus they have to abide by their safety and quality standards.
DeleteIs it a good time now to buy a BEV?
ReplyDeleteIt really depends on your personal circumstances. Do you have the free cash for something like a Volvo? If not, there are good alternatives at lower prices. What are your specific driving habits/needs? Just city or maybe some longer trips occasionally? These are questions that you need to ask yourself before you can answer that question.
