Mark your calendars: Mazda is revealing the all-new, third-generation CX-5 globally this July 10. The start of a new chapter for one of Mazda’s most popular models, the CX-5 is confirmed to offer “a more confident design, enhanced comfort, and greater everyday usability.”
The sharper design will continue to evolve the CX-5’s distinctive character, says Mazda, paired with a more spacious, uncluttered cabin. In addition, it’ll come with “advanced, human-centric technology and safety systems for confident, connected driving in every life scenario.”
Before its official launch, Mazda has revealed a couple of teaser photos which have enhanced to reveal more detail.
Among the details that you can spot include the e-Skyactiv-G badge which indicates some form of electrification. Previously, Mazda has confirmed that the all-new CX-5 will debut Skyactiv-Z, a brand-new engine with a high thermal efficiency and super lean burn combustion.
Other features include the Mazda script replacing the wing logo on the tailgate and gloss black accents. The overall silhouette seems close to the current model along with the slim headlights and large grille.
Check back on July 10 to find out how the all-new CX-5 shapes up.
That looks more like a CX-NN, not a CX-5. Less sporty, more bulky. Also, Mazda’s nomenclature is getting really confusing. They shifted to double-digit naming, only for them to go back to single-digit naming for the CX-5. They should just drop the CX-5 nameplate in favor of a new double-digit marquee. I know CX-50 nameplate is already taken, but they could change/axe it in favor of this, the spiritual successor of the CX-5. They could also use CX-05, which I’m partial to.
