Metro Manila Remains Under MECQ Until September 15

The IATF is deferring its “granular lockdown” system for Metro Manila. Instead, the National Capital Region or NCR will remain under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine or MECQ until September 15, 2021 or until the IATF finalizes its Alert Level system.

The proposed Alert Level system used during the localized lockdown will have four levels:
  • Alert Level 1 – New Normal
  • Alert Level 2 – 50 percent capacity on all activity
  • Alert Level 3 – 30 percent capacity on all activity
  • Alert Level 4 – Similar to ECQ, only healthcare workers are allowed to go out
While the IATF finalizes this new “Alert Level” system, both indoor and al fresco dining, as well as personal care services including barber shops will remain closed under MECQ.

Religious services, on the other hand, performed through online video recording and transmission shall be allowed.

Meanwhile, immediate family members are allowed to attend necrological services, wakes, inurnment and funerals as long as the deceased died of non-COVID-19 causes.
