Yes, Toyota Just Launched A Corolla Altis Named After The Nürburgring

The Toyota Corolla Altis could be considered as the quintessential appliance of compact sedans so it’s quite surprising that the guys at Toyota Thailand used it to come out with this special edition model: the Toyota Corolla Altis Nürburgring.

Okay, admittedly, there’s a reason behind Toyota’s madness, and this one is supposed to commemorate Toyota Gazoo Racing Team Thailand’s class win at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring this year.

With that, the Corolla Altis Nürburgring bears some of the styling cues found in the race car with its modified grille and bumpers. You also get Nürburgring front fender badges too. Sadly, the wheels are left unchanged.

Bummer too because Toyota didn’t modify the powertrain. For this special edition model, it can be had with either a 140-horsepower 1.8-liter or a 122-horsepower 1.8-liter hybrid. Regardless of engine though, both versions come only with a CVT.

On the bright side, Toyota did include lowering springs and a pedal box that’s said to improve throttle response.

The whole package, according to Toyota Thailand is worth around 42,000 baht (P 63,000), but it’s being offered for free if you get in-house insurance worth 31,000 baht (P 46,500).

Notably, despite the Corolla Altis’s rather boring nature this isn’t the first time Toyota shoved it with a sporty regalia. Thailand got the Corolla Altis GR Sport, while Europe (well, Eastern Europe) got their very own Corolla GR Sport.
