Spotted! Jetour X70 Is Already In The Philippines

How’s this for an entry in Interesting Car Spotting? Just a day after we broke news confirming that Jetour is coming into the Philippines via a partnership between the Gateway Group and AutoSpeedyGo, a Jetour X70 was spotted parked along a dealership along North EDSA.

The unit in question is clearly a validation unit given that all the badging has either been tapped off or covered. However, a quick process of elimination reveals that among the confirmed launch line-up, this is the Jetour X70.

Measuring in at 4,720 mm in length and packing a wheelbase of 2,745 mm, the Jetour X70 is clearly sized similarly to a mid-sized SUV (you can see it parked next to a Nissan Livina for size reference). However, because of its front-wheel drive, unibody architecture, its packaging is closer to that of the Chery Tiggo 8 and Geely Okavango.

According to its global website, the Jetour X70 is powered by 1.5-liter turbocharged direct injected engine developed in-house by Chery (Jetour is a division of Chery, after all). The engine features an integrated exhaust manifold and together with its variable valve timing system, it makes 156 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 230 Nm of torque from 1,750 to 4,000 rpm. This is mated to a 6-speed dual clutch driving the front wheels (per Jetour’s UAE website).

No interior photos of the Jetour X70 were snapped, but based on their global website, expect typical features found in other Chinese SUVs such as a panoramic sunroof, digital instrumentation (12.3-inch in the case of the X70), a 10-inch touchscreen-based infotainment system, leather seats with power adjustment for the driver, and more.

Are you excited for the arrival of Jetour in the Philippines?

  4. Uly, blur the conduction stickers too as well as some nearby identifying landmarks on the background (that'll lead to the leaker of the photo to get compromised.)

    1. TBH, I would have gone straight to hybrids/EVs with Jetour. The Gateway Group has already invested in a charging infrastructure (they're the exclusive dealer group for the Nissan LEAF), so given those learnings, they could have potentially gone that route. Or at least offer one immediately at launch.

  8. How come Chery International split its distribution of vehicles for Chery, Omoda & Jetour? They are not happy with UAAGI? Will Omoda & Jetour be under 1 distributor?

    3. UAAGI wants to focus on Chery Tiggo SUV lineup only.
Handling multiple SUV sub brands of Chery would be very hard for them to market and handle..
They're happy with the affordable Tiggo SUV lineup already.

    4. From how it was explained to me, Chery Auto wants to market their brands similar to how Hyundai/Kia or VW Group markets their vehicles. They'd have separate distributors per market, all competing in the same or similar market spaces.

    5. But that market segment is already so crowded, chery has already an established brand here. I dont see the essence of bringing here detour and komodo and dont see it will fly, nahirapan nga chery dito

    6. Tiggo SUV lineup are already in Italy for many years while Omoda and Exeed are set to be available in other European countries
Jetour is mostly available in Asian and Middle Eastern countries as an alternative to the Chery Tiggo SUV lineup

  9. Better than buying the same old outdated and poorly built 3rd world Daihatsu Indonesia vehicles of Toyota 😂
Jetour is the mid level brand of Chery..The SUV lineup of it are higher and a bit more expensive than the Tiggo SUV lineup but less expensive than the Omoda and Exeed SUV sub brands.👍

    1. Fancy china cars but not reliable and durable and has junk resale value. Only geely so far has proved its mèttle. For most pnoy car buyers affordability, ease of maintenance, reliability and durability is all that matters. Dis the reason why toyota consistently captures 50% of ph car market🤑🤑🤑
