This Mitsubishi Montero Sport Hides a Secret

The Mitsubishi Montero Sport may be known locally and perhaps even the region as a mid-sized 7-seater SUV, but in the United Kingdom, it’s also taken on a new role: delivery van.

For the U.K. market, Mitsubishi is now offering a commercial version of the Montero Sport (called the Shogun Sport over there) which should provide retail and business customers a go-anywhere delivery vehicle.

Mitsubishi says that the Shogun Sport Commercial (the official name over there) has a flat rear load area that measures 1,920 millimeters long, 1,000 millimeters wide between the rear wheel arches, and 1,040 millimeters high. All in all, it should swallow a total of 1,488 liters (VDA measured). Plus, it’s got a 605-kilogram load capacity and a maximum towing capacity of 3.1 tons.

And since this is an SUV, Mitsubishi has fitted even the commercial variant with its Super Select II 4WD system. The same system found in the 7-seater, it even has the same off-road terrain selector with settings for gravel, mud/snow, sand, and rock. It’s also got a low ratio transfer gearing for when the terrain becomes demanding and a lockable center and rear differential. It’s also got Hill Descent Control.

Despite its commercial use, the Shogun Sport Commercial comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, 360-degree camera, heated leather seats, LED headlamps, and a keyless operation system. The audio system features Apple CarPlay & Android Auto compatibility along with Bluetooth connection, DAB radio and a 510W Mitsubishi Power Sound speaker system. For convenience two further USB connections and a 3-pin plug socket are located in the center console. Safety features such as Forward Collision Mitigation, Blind Spot Warning and Trailer Stability Assist are also standard.

How much does this all cost, if you may ask? Well, it comes as no surprise that it’s pretty expensive: £ 32,504 or around P 2.2 million.
