2024 MG Marvel R EV Brings Refinement, Sophistication For P 2.588M

Refinement and sophistication in an all-electric package arrives with the first-ever MG Marvel R EV—MG Philippines’ cutting-edge flagship SUV. Progressive, powerful, and above all, attractive, the Marvel R puts great emphasis on design, refinement, quality, attention to detail, and state-of-the-art technology.

Wearing MG’s new Evolution Design language, the Marvel R combines both modern and powerful elements with attractive, minimalist cues for a truly sophisticated EV. The sporty coupe-like roofline is complemented by slim, aggressive LED headlights, 19-inch rims, a full-length LED taillight cluster, and flushed door handles. With a generous 2,800 mm wheelbase, it has an attractive stance, while also lending to a spacious interior.

Inside, passengers are treated to a digitalized cockpit experience. The main focal point is the 19.4-inch touchscreen infotainment display constructed of toughened Corning Gorilla Glass that resists cracks and scratches. The driver also gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. More traditional comfort features including Nappa leather seats with power adjust and ventilation/heating, ambient interior lighting, a wireless phone charger, a panoramic sunroof, hands-free power tailgate, and an 8-speaker sound system.

The luggage compartment in the rear offers a volume of 357 liters. With the rear seat folded down, it can be increased to 1,396 liters. There’s also an added 150 liters of luggage space under the hood, also known as a frunk.

Designed for new-generation motorists who appreciate performance as well as range and fast-charging capabilities, the Marvel R EV is underpinned by a rigid, lightweight chassis equipped with an aluminum sub-frame and a 50/50 front-rear weight distribution. Onboard motors generate a total of 186 horsepower (137 kW) and 410 Nm of torque imbuing this five-seat SUV a sub-8 second second 0 to 100 km/h. A two-gear transmission improves efficiency and raises the top speed to 200 km/h.

The large 70-kWh lithium-ion battery pack gives the Marvel R EV 402 kilometers of range. Greater peace of mind is offered by its ability to quick charge using its onboard 11-kW charger. A 5 to 80 percent charge can be done in as little as 43 minutes.

The Marvel R EV also takes a step forward in safety with its comprehensive range of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). It comes standard with 15 ADAS that alerts the driver for potential hazards on the road and intervene if necessary, ranging from Adaptive Cruise Control to Traffic Jam Assistance, Lane Keep Assistance, Rear Traffic Alert, Blind Spot Monitoring, Intelligent High Beam Control, and Drowsiness Warning System.

The MG Marvel R EV reinforces MG’s thrust to offer smart, practical, safe, and technologically advanced cars. With the Marvel R EV, it also makes electric mobility more accessible to drivers who are ready to embrace a new electric lifestyle.

Priced at P 2,588,888, the MG Marvel R EV comes with a 5-year bumper-to-bumper warranty and an 8-year high-voltage battery warranty.

  1. This would have been a steal at this price range if they offered the dual motor version.

Both Kia and Hyundai now has overpriced EV lineups with Volvo pricing their XC40 at 3.9M with dual motors and a suite of features.

Soon, dealers will start to lower their EV prices as more options become available.

    2. Exciting times, dealers are filling in the blanks in terms of how to price their EVs. Volvo priced themselves below Mercedes Benz but above Kia and Hyundai, which makes sense, but they had very little wiggle room there. Both Kia and Hyundai needs to rethink their pricing strategy.

I feel some dealers are still positioning their EVs based on how much they are selling their ICE models. Not really on how much they should actually sell these EVs.

MG did the right thing by rocking the market with a sub 1.5M pure EV with the MG4. Now it's Omodo 5 EV and the BYD Atto's move.

  2. Same price as the VW ID4 at the grey market.
