GAC Motor Is Philippines' Fastest Growing Auto Brand For Q1 2024

Astara-led GAC Motor concluded the first quarter of 2024 with exceptional growth in retail sales from January to March, earning its position as the fastest growing automotive brand in the market and setting new benchmarks for success in the industry.

GAC recorded a remarkable 274 percent growth in retail sales compared to the same period last year, totaling an impressive 774 units sold year to date. This growth not only demonstrates the brand’s strong momentum in retail sales but also surpasses the industry’s total growth rate, which stands at 13 percent as reported by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Incorporated (CAMPI).

The surge in sales can be attributed to the increasing demand for GAC Motor’s diverse lineup, which includes popular models such as the Emzoom, Empow, Emkoo, GS8, and the latest additions to its lineup, the M8 luxury van and M6 Pro family MPV. These vehicles have resonated strongly with Filipino consumers, solidifying GAC Motor’s position as a trusted choice for discerning drivers nationwide.

The sales growth is further supported by GAC Motor’s expanding reach through its widening dealer network, which currently stands at 26 outlets nationwide. GAC is on track to have 35 locations by year-end, further bolstering its presence and accessibility across the country.

In recognition of the outstanding performance of GAC operations in the Philippines for 2023 under Astara, GAC Motor International honored the Philippines as the Fastest Growing GAC Market in the world. This accolade marks a significant milestone in Astara Philippines’s journey as a mobility company only after a year since becoming the distributor of GAC in the country.

Luis Torres, CEO and Country Manager of Astara Philippines, expressed gratitude for the recognition, stating, “We are deeply honored to personally receive this award from GAC Motor International in Guangzhou, China. With this award, we are more inspired than ever to continue delivering exceptional results and exceeding expectations. We look forward to further strengthening our partnership with GAC Motor International and achieving even greater milestones together.”

Franz Decloedt, Brand Head of GAC Motor Philippines, also conveyed his appreciation to the Filipino public for their support, saying, “We are immensely grateful to our customers for embracing the GAC brand and making our vehicles part of their lives. This significant achievement further motivates and emboldens us at Astara Philippines to continue bringing in vehicles that provide the unmatched experience and outstanding quality that meet the mobility needs of every Filipino.”

True to this commitment, Decloedt led the unveiling of the Emkoo Hybrid SUV at the recently concluded 2024 Manila International Auto Show. The first GAC hybrid vehicle for the Philippine market, the Emkoo Hybrid SUV showcases the brand’s dedication to sustainability and cutting-edge technology, offering Filipinos an eco-friendly option without compromising on performance or style.

Set to hit the market in June, the Emkoo Hybrid SUV retains its unique and stunning design characterized by sharp and futuristic elements, now powered with an all-improved full parallel hybrid system that delivers better mileage and value for mobility. This hybrid compact SUV runs on a powerful 2.0-liter ATK engine mated with a 2-speed hybrid transmission. The engine produces 140 horsepower and 180 Newton-meters of torque while the electric motor produces 134 kilowatts (182 horsepower) and 300 Newton-meters of torque. Fuel efficiency clocks in at 22.1 km/L.

    1. GAC's been in the Philippine market since 2018 when it was under Legado Motors back then
Legado sold the local distribution rights GAC vehicles to Astara..Legado is still a GAC dealer (they own GAC Pasig).

  2. the marketing and brand heads are very collaborative with dealers. they carry the sales performance, not the very clueless sales director ryan bermudez. that guy knows nothing about the position, but sure knows how to blurt flowery words during meetings. timmy and franz know how to do business unlike that ryan. ha ha

  3. All of them played different roles in making sure all Dealers and Astara would achieve its goal. I would disagree with your statement that the Sales Director are all but flowery words. He’s handling those pressures just fine and aid us in majority of our dealership needs. He’s ok..
