Omoda Jaecoo Philippines is confident of continuing its momentum in the local xEV space with the upcoming launch of the Jaecoo J5 EV.
Previewed at the Philippine International Motor Show last month, the Jaecoo J5 EV will be officially launched on July 22 at the Glorietta Activity Center. It will join the J5 SHS-H (hybrid) which went on retail sale last April.
Dubbed the “Baby Range Rover,” the Jaecoo J5 features a pet-friendly interior thanks to its TĆV SĆD-certified materials made of antibacterial and scratch-resistant materials that are easy to clean and maintain.
The Jaecoo J5 EV sports a 204 horsepower (150 kW) electric motor helping it achieve a 7.7-second 0 to 100 km/h time. Moreover, its 60.4-kWh battery pack delivers a WLTP range of 420 kilometers. It also supports DC fast charging where a 30-80 percent change can be done in as little as 28 minutes. A 3.3-kW V2L external discharge function also means it can be turned into a mobile power base; very convenient as it has a one-touch camping mode.
More than just about performance, the J5 EV sports a double-layer acoustic glass for excellent on-road refinement. Its optimized shape also contributes to low wind noise even at 120 km/h. In terms of features, it has an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster, a 12.32-inch central control screen, and a 19-function ADAS system. And as an off-road centric EV, the J5 EV has a 20-degree approach and 29.8-degree departure angle. It also has 174 mm of ground clearance and 450 mm of water wading depth.
With an indicative price of P 1.399-million, the Jaecoo J5 EV comes standard with a 7-year or 200,000-kilometer bumper-to-bumper warranty and an 8-year or 160,000-kilometer battery and electric motor warranty. It joins the popular J6 in Omoda Jaecoo Philippines’ BEV line-up. The J6 has helped propel Omoda Jaecoo to the third spot in overall BEV sales with 535 sold so far in the Philippines this year.

If this comes with discounts and ends up BELOW 1.3M, then we can expect OJP to sell a good number of these in the coming months.
