After previewing it at the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) last June, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines (MMPC) is gearing up to re-launch its Outlander PHEV this August.
Although MMPC is still trying to keep the lid on details of the 2027 Outlander PHEV GT 2.4G AWD (as the model is officially designated), several key features have already been outed as pre-selling as begun, including its suggested retail price.
As its naming suggests, the 2027 Outlander will use a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder DOHC MIVEC engine producing 133 horsepower and 195 Nm of torque. This is supplemented by two electric motors generating 116 horsepower and 255 Nm up front, and 136 horsepower and 195 Nm of torque at the back. In total, it’ll offer 302 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque combined.
The transmission is a specialized single-speed front and rear transaxle reduction system. At low and medium speeds, the wheels are driven directly by the electric motors. At higher cruising speeds, a hydraulic clutch locks and allows the gasoline engine to provide direct mechanical drive through a fixed single-speed ratio.
The Outlander PHEV GT 2.4G AWD will also have a 22.7-kWh lithium-ion battery which offers up to 87 kilometers of pure electric range and more than 800 kilometers when combined with a full tank of gas. Charging is done exclusively via a Type 2 AC charger.
Confirmed specs for the Outlander PHEV GT 2.4G AWD include 20-inch alloy wheels with 255/45R20s, ventilated disc brakes all around, LED headlights with sequential turn signal indicators, and a power tailgate with hands-free functionality.
Inside it comes upholstered in “premium leather” seats with 8-way power adjustment with heating, ventilation, and memory for the front row, a tri-zone climate control system, camera-based smart rearview mirror with auto dimming functionality, a full digital gauge cluster, and a 12.3-inch infotainment system with an 8-speaker Dynamic Sound Yamaha Premium speaker system.
An interesting bit is that for the Philippine market, MMPC has wisely decided to add a third-row of seats making this a 7-seater, or if we’re realistic, a 5+2.
The Outlander PHEV GT 2.4 AWD also sports a full complement of airbags, a 360-degree camera, and Mitsubishi Diamond Sense Safety Suite—its very own advanced driver assistance system.
Now comes the most awaited bit: the price. Mitsubishi dealerships are now accepting reservations for the Outlander PHEV which comes with a P 2,848,000 sticker tag. Now, it’s a bit pricey, but it’s still cheaper than the previous Outlander PHEV (P 2,998,000). It also puts it in the same category as the Mazda CX-60 (P 2,890,000) and the Honda CR-V RS e:HEV AWD (P 2,838,000).

DeleteSurprised they added the third row seat. It is pretty much useless without adjusting and compromising the second row space (in a way, kinda similar to my old Starex where seats had to be moved around to use the extra fourth row).
ReplyDeletePrice is a bit steep, the X-trail e-POWER is much better value for money. I don't think the PHEV drivetrain would save you 600,000. Mechanically speaking, aside from the powertrain, the X-trail and Outlander are basically the same thing.
Granted, the X-Trail e-power is way more cheaper however, the Outlander has a PHEV system which is way more advanced with S-AWC and interior quality is superb. I've ridden in one and comparable sa Lexus ang quality niya.

ReplyDeleteThis is so stupid they caved to public demand instead of making it a totally different segment from the montero. The Ph doesn't need another fake 7seater which can barely fit children at the 3rd row. They have the Montero for that. They should have just have priced this like the Mazda Cx-60 added the 12 speaker system and kept the 5 seats a lot of people would still buy it because its the only plug in japanese car available so far.
