After being launched in Metro Manila, the Jaecoo J5 HEV and EV will hold its official Cebu unveil this August 20 at SM Seaside City Cebu. The launch, Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines says, is part of the company’s continuing efforts to make smart and electrified mobility more accessible to Filipino customers outside Metro Manila.
For customers looking for an electrified option, but want the practicality of conventional fueling, the Jaecoo J5 HEV offers just that.
The Jaecoo J5 SHS-S, as the model is officially called, has a turbocharged 1.5-liter that generates 143 horsepower (105 kW) and 215 Nm on its own, but thanks to a 204 horsepower (150 kW), 310 Nm electric motor, it makes 244 horsepower and 295 Nm of torque. This enables a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration of 7.9 seconds and a high fuel efficiency rating of 23 km/L. With a 51-liter fuel tank and 1.83 kWh battery, it can go up to more than 1,000 kilometers before refueling.
Meanwhile, for those who are ready to embrace full electric mobility, there’s the Jaecoo J5 EV. The sole front-mounted electric motor produces 204 horsepower helping it reach 100 km/h from a standstill in just 7.7 seconds. And thanks to a CATL LFP 58.9-kWh battery, it offers a driving range of 461 kilometers—a figure it beat locally (539.2 kilometers) with a supervised fuel economy run done with the Automobile Association of the Philippines.
Whether HEV or EV, the Jaecoo J5 comes with Smart Cockpit. Designed around the driver, Smart Cockpit integrates vehicle information, connectivity, entertainment, and intelligent controls into a more intuitive and seamless driving environment.
Right after its official launch, Omoda & Jaecoo is providing test drives at SM Seaside City Cebu until August 24.
With Cebu continuing to serve as one of the Philippines’ major economic and automotive centers outside Metro Manila, it’s an important market for the introduction of new hybrid and electric vehicle technologies, says Omoda & Jaecoo Philippines.
