Toyota Motor PH Officially Launches Fortuner GR Sport And Hilux GR Sport

Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) launches the first-ever Hilux GR Sport and Fortuner GR Sport. The Hilux GR Sport starts at P 1,985,000 (the Emotional Red is at P 2,005,000), while the Fortuner GR Sport is priced at P 2,509,000.

The GR Sport or GR-S badge symbolizes vehicles developed with the guidance of Toyota Gazoo Racing. As such, Toyota Motor Philippines intends to position these variants for buyers who’re seeking to express their passion for motorsports through their daily drivers.

Things start with a more aggressive exterior. The Fortuner GR Sport gets a redesigned front and rear bumper, fog lamp garnish, body-colored arch molding, back door garnish, and bi-tone rear spoiler. Meanwhile, the Hilux GR Sport gets a black gloss “G-Mesh” front grille design with the “TOYOTA” lettering spelt out across the front. It also gets body-colored overfenders and a sports bar in gloss black. Both models get black-tinted clear coating on their 18-inch wheels with machine cut finish.

Inside, both GR Sport models get a race-inspired interior with red, black, and smoked silver metallic accents. The leather steering wheel has red stitching with a red-colored marker at the center position, aluminum pedals, and sport-type front seats with suede and leather material. The Fortuner GR Sport also has matte carbon trims on the center cluster.

Both the Hilux GR Sport and Fortuner GR Sport gets an 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, and paddle shifters. A hood-lift assist makes things easier for engine-related works, while the Fortuner GR Sport now has a powered tailgate with kick sensor.

A first for the local Hilux line-up, the Hilux GR Sport now has Panoramic View Monitor (PVM). Meanwhile, the Fortuner GR Sport has Toyota Safety Sense with Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

Underneath, both models benefit from new monotube-type suspension for a more stable and comfortable ride. Both also have red-colored front GR brake calipers, but the Fortuner GR Sport also gets rear red GR brake calipers.

The Hilux GR Sport is available in three colors: Attitude Black Mica, Super White, and Emotional Red, while the Fortuner GR Sport comes only in White Pearl Crystal Shine with an Attitude Black Mica roof.

“We mark another milestone as we combine the reliable IMV platform with TOYOTA GAZOO Racing’s spirit of thrill!” TMP President Atsuhiro Okamoto.

“When Toyota Motor Philippines first introduced the IMV series in 2005, we had a vision of bringing dependable and durable vehicles perfect for the needs of Filipinos. 15 years later, our IMVs continue to be a worthy companion for adventures, daily trips, and tough demands of the country’s many roads,” Okamoto added. “Under the development of Toyota Gazoo Racing, we are bringing the motorsports excitement to your daily drives with a sportier, heart-racing reinvention that pushes the limits of the models we know and love.”

  3. I'd be interested to know how "comfortable" these new monotube shocks are from the matagtag version of past Fortuners.
