Chrysler, Dodge Owners Warned: Stop Driving Your Car

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has issued a warning for owners to selected vehicles to stop driving their cars.

Due to a defective Takata driver side airbag, owners of 2005-2010 Dodge Magnum station wagons, Dodge Challenger coupes, and Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 sedans (pictured above) are recommended to stop driving their vehicles until a fix has been done.

To recall, the affected Takata airbag can rupture in the event of the accident, injuring or killing the driver in the process. Though FCA has been offering to replace the driver-side airbag free of charge since 2015, not every affected owner has brought in their vehicle for the appropriate remedy.

The airbag replacement campaign affects approximately 276,000 vehicles in the U.S. alone.

Overall, FCA is and has been engaged in aggressive outreach to encourage vehicle owners and custodians affected by Takata recalls to obtain service. To date, through various initiatives, the company has generated nearly 210 million standard and first-class letters, courier deliveries, e-mails, text messages, while also making phone calls and home visits.

The free airbag replacement procedure takes just one hour and authorized FCA dealerships have ample stocks of replacement airbags on hand.
