LGUs Get Boost In Firefighting Capabilities Thanks To Hino

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) handed over 35 Hino fire trucks to various local government units (LGU) in a ceremony held at the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) National Headquarters.

The event was led by Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos, Jr. who emphasized the importance of boosting local governments’ fire combat capabilities.

“Through these fire trucks which will be distributed to 35 fire stations in key cities and municipalities all over the country, we will be able to bolster the BFP's capability to respond to fire incidents in their communities. We want to give our people a sense of safety and security,” Abalos said.

The new fire trucks are based on the Hino 500 Series 1625 (FG8J) mounted with a 4,000-liter water tank. It also comes complete with modern firefighting instruments aligned with Philippine fire service standards.

Aside from providing the units, Hino Philippines will provide a 360-degree customer service to help ensure unhampered operations through availability of quality parts, training, repair, and maintenance.

The new Hino fire trucks are part of the BFP’s modernization program with the goal to meet the ideal ratio of one fire truck for every city or municipality.

The recently turned over vehicles will be deployed to various LGUs covering five units for CALABARZON; four each for Ilocos, Bicol and Eastern Visayas regions; three each for Central Luzon, Central Visayas and Northern Mindanao; Western Visayas and Zamboanga Peninsula were assigned two units each while Cagayan Valley, Davao, Caraga and NCR will receive one each.
